Positives include: Good selection, great clearance sections, being able to special order specific titles and have them shipped either to the store or to my home. The long-term employee - including cafe manager Kat - are awesome: helpful, friendly, knowledgeable. Negatives are overwhelming though: Staff turnover is huge (because of the store manager according to current & former employees) so no one stays long enough to learn "the lay of the land" or their role in the store; moral and customer service suffer as a result of him. All the employees who have worked there for years are left to pick up the slack and do the jobs that new hires should be trained to do. Unfortunately, the manager doesn't want to spend the $$'s to have the new hires and the experienced workers on the clock at the same time, so new employees can't shadow and learn to do things the right way - and more importantly, they can't catch the positive attitude that some of the long-term people manage *miraculously* to maintain. Also, thanks to the penny pinching management, foods in the cafe are not disposed of on time. As a result, the cheesecake and other pastries are dryed out and taste like whatever savory sandwiches/quiche... they are stored with. Overall it's a wonderful store, and a place I enjoy spending time, but I miss the days when the employees stuck around long enough to get to know the store and - especially - the customers. This B&N seemed to be the last bastion of "know your customer and provide real customer service." Sadly: Gone are the days when the Nook guy would ask what I thought of the new updates, or the children's bookseller would show me a new "must have" for my son, or someone would ask, "Did you know that there's a new series out by *insert favored author's name*? You're going to love/hate it!" All this attention was because employees weren't worked to death or chastised for "chatting when they should be working." OK. Wait. How do you sell ANYTHING without knowing what your customer needs/wants? How do you know what your customer needs/wants without "wasting time" chatting with them? In the era of digital content, perhaps it's time the manager realizes that I can download a book from Google in 30 seconds. I go to B&N for SERVICE. If he is not going to allow his employees enough hours in their day to "waste time" providing me with the service I need, I can head right over to Google and be ignored - - for about half the price.

They have a good selection. They also have some great toys and games. Upstairs they have a decent selection of graphic novels. Their sale section is always nice and big.

A perfect way to spend a Saturday mid-morning at the book store. I like their wide selection of magazines and enjoy browsing through the science fiction selection. Overall, excellent customer service.

Barnes and noble. Could use cleaner, better maintained bathrooms. Employees are kind and helpful.

I love shopping at Barnes and Noble. I don't always buy something there but there is something about the place that just makes me happy.
