Story

Since April 2014, Bates New England Seafood and Subs has been serving the taste of New England seafood to Winter Garden. A menu designed and cooked by New England natives, Bates has been serving folks who drive from near and far for their famous Lobster Rolls, Full-Belly Clams, Steak and Cheese Subs, Full Liquor Bar, Clam Chowder, 100% Angus Beef Steaks, Oysters Rockefeller, and more. Come in and give us a try and find out what we're all about.

The food was good but the service was slow. They really gotta work that out if they're gonna be successful. Had to wait an hour before the entrees came out. Plenty of servers just a slow kitchen I guess.

Edit: I've been back twice since and had good service and the food is still delicious. Upgraded from 3 to 5 star.

Anyone who grew up eating fresh seafood, properly prepared should avoid this place. Especially, if you are from the northeast where chefs in restaurants know how to cook seafood.

We waited far too long, in a nearly empty restaurant,  for mediocre food that was not prepared well. Greasy fried food did meet the server's description of "that's a heart attack on a plate." Nice recommendation, huh? I guess I shouldn't complain because the other server said that the whole belly clams were gross. 

So, over priced, poorly cooked, odd servers who clearly don't much care for the food they are serving, along with a dingy sort of place means we won't be recommending this restaurant.

I will not be surprised to see this place go out of business.

A group of us met here to visit after not seeing each other for awhile. The restaurant had a few guests at 7:30 pm.
We were offered bread/biscuits that were cold, but were heated up when we requested. We had Onion Rings, and Oysters Rockefeller for appetizers. Onion Rings were great, the Oysters Rockefeller so-so.
I had the Clam Strips with sides of broccoli and french fries. The servings were plentiful. Broccoli was not even warm.
Service was great! They were very attentive. The owner even came out to check how we were doing.
It's a nice family place. We were not rushed at all. Major kudos for the hospitality they offer. Just need some work on serving hot dishes.
Will I return? Maybe for the Clam Strips and service.

Awful service. My food was wrong as was my wife's food.  They were supposed ti bring my wife lobster hogie on a roll.  It came in two pieces of white bread.. not even toasted.  She ordered broccoli and coleslaw as the side.  Neither came with the sandwich.   When asked about them we were told they were out.  They offered corn.  Nothing else.  It came 10min later.. cold and hard.   My burger arrived wrong too.  I sent it back.  20minues later.. still no burger.  I got up and asked Cindy the waitress and she didn't seem to care.  I never got my food.  We paid for wife's crappy sandwich and left.  Don't go.

Best service I have had in a long time. All of the staff was helpful and friendly. The owner actually took time to walk to each table and speak to customers.  Very clean, classy environment but without over the top prices and great food!
