Story

Lake D’Arbonne is a reservoir located near and around the town of Farmerville in Union Parish in north Louisiana. Isolated in a rural area, it is a popular man-made fishing area that has a combined estimated area of 15250acre. The lake was first conceived in 1957 and was formed in 1963. Lake D’Arbonne State Park, a state maintained camping and recreation area, lies on the lake.State Senator B. R. Patton, State Representative T. T. Fields, landowner Alvin Green (born 1924) of Bernice, and Fred Preaus, a Farmerville automobile and timber businessman who served as state highway director in the administration of Governor Robert F. Kennon, worked to make the lake a reality. The Louisiana State Highway 33 bridge atop Lake D'Arbonne in Farmerville is named for James Peyton Smith, the state representative from Union and Morehouse parishes from 1964 to 1972.

This is long, but a true account of how this place is actually run. This webpage describes the perfect atmosphere for your leisurely camping experience, but the truth is, you won't find that here. The Most truthful thing about this webpage & said place is that laundry is $4. But by appointment only, & you will be observed by the owner, Master Bates, to ensure that "proper" laundry procedures are followed. The pics... where we they taken?? Not this place. Bayou frontage?? After you trek thru the forest of chiggers. Rv sites?? All taken by the YEARS long residents. This is a Community, not a camping retreat. There is 1 available rv spot only, but is not full hookup. But you will pay the same price as the residents who do have full hookup. When we asked why were paying the same as others who have all ammenties, we were told we have 2 good legs that can walk us to the bath house. We observed a camper family with a pull behind trailer be put on a tentsite but then charged an extra $15 because their 2 kids wanted to put up a Small tent on the same tentsite. They were told..well, it's cheaper than a hotel. Check out is @ 2pm. We observed that Everyone who came stayed 1 night only & were gone 1st thing next morning by 8am @ the latest. Apparently the bayou frontage & the "treat you like we want to be treated" motto just flies right out the window when you realize it's BULL. So, do yourselves a favor- keep on keeping on & pay extra for that hotel or another rv/campground instead of this "trailer park".

Great RV park if your looking for extended stay. Trees provide plenty if shade and is really quiet. Not to mention the bayou is just a hundred yards or so from any lot.
