Called the number because I was interested in bringing my family to the museum while we were in that part of the state. One of the Board members told me that they dont keep regular hours but will open just for you if you are going to visit. That's pretty cool! We had a private tour of this Small town's rather large museum. The old wooden school house stands in an area that was originally a Choctaw Tribe settlement on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain. Many of the items in the museum are Native American, mostly Choctaw. Bayou Lacombe was also the site of some Civil War action. Along with the rich history of the area, many residents have donated items of great historical significance.  We spent over 2 hours in the museum, which is easy to do. Rural museums like this are very rare!
