The Bayview Hotel Bed and Breakfast was built in 1878 by Jose Arano. Nestled in the heart of Aptos, CA it is the longest running hotel in Santa Cruz County and just 10 minutes away from Santa Cruz itself. Delicious food and amazing service. I feel like not many people go there because of its previous restaurants having a bad reputation, but it was really good.

I've only been here for an event, but it was the most mismanaged and unclean place I've been in a long time. The owners left bills and other paperwork on the tables in plain view, another table was full of odds and ends (cereal boxes, tools, and other things) that should not have been in public view. The backroom (visible from the bar) was for all intents and purposes a hoard, and most likely a safety and health code violation. The food was uninspired and cold. Please avoid this place, it probably should be closed permanently.

The owners have a very creative view of customer service. I checked some of my friends in there for a stay and got a call the next day to pick them up because they needed the room vacated for maintenance work. 

I imagine this place continues to exist because the building really is interesting but save yourself a headache and stay elsewhere. 

Oh and do not subject yourself to the restaurant. Bad news.

My cot in the barracks at Fort Ord during boot camp in 1959 was a signicantly better lodging experience.
