We are located inside the Huron-Manistee National Forest, there are not many of anything from which to choose. The Bear's Den was a good tasting restaurant when we moved up here 20 years ago. Now, with all the updates and much more to offer, such as special orders, vegetarian dishes, most excellent pizza and liquor to boot, I would consider this a high end Ma + Pa Restaurant. The ambience is quaint and cozy. So are the owners, Peggy and Fred. They put all the frills in their fine cooking and service. Enjoy!

I make it a point to take M65 so I can stop here on my way to eat. Everything I have tried has been terrific. I get "to go" bread puddings to take back to my husband. For us to have dessert together. Servings are nice size. I can't eat it all, but I am small. I highly recommend to everyone.

We have been going here for years and was always good, UNTIL IT WASN'T!  Had a group of 7, came in after the Friday dinner crowd to avoid waiting and we ended up waiting over an hour for our food.  The salads were awful, Catfish all extremely over cooked and my friend ordered a cod dinner and ate one piece of fish and they told her she could not take the rest of her meal home, WTH!  After asking for a manager, who never came, the waiter told us she could take her food with her.  I have never had such a bad experience in this place.  Unfortunately we will not be returning.  Hopefully they get it back together, it used to be a great place to go :(
