Forgive me if only myself think inflation is killing my taste of dessert, $4+ for one single puff, which the only operator takes them from fridge and microwaved. And I can tell the rest puffs and material for showcase are not well maintained, being left airy outside of containers.
We stumbled upon this pastry shop in NYC as we were walking around. I’d never heard of Beard Papas but they have tons of locations worldwide. I’m not a huge sweets person but my husband is and insisted on coming here to check it out. The cream puff I had was one of best cream puffs I’ve ever tried. It’s light, creamy and very tasty. They have tons of flavors. The shop here in NYC was very tiny, cute and the staff was friendly. If you’re looking for a snack or a treat this place will not disappoint.
Terrible workers here that care nothing for the product they are selling and are unfriendly . She couldnt even be bothered to pump a full amount of cream into the almost $5 cream puffs ! When I got home the first one was only a little cream inside and mostly air the second one we threw away because it was moldy see photo over priced garbage and useless workers that have no pride in what they are doing . I love beard papa but only in Asia , here you need better management and product or just close it down !
I've always loved Beard Papa's cream puffs. I used to go to their Astor Place, UES and UWS locations growing up. It's sad that they only had this location but glad they have the St Mark's one, too. I love them so much that I bought a shirt! Always fresh food and great menu options! These are Ube Matcha and Lemon cream puffs. Yummy!
Okay for dessert if you want something messy and not overly sweet. Was eyeing the local food and saw this place. Stopped in to get two cream puffs to try. At the restauranteur's suggestion, got an original with vanilla filling, since its supposedly very popular. I then tried a smores with vanilla ice cream filling for an extra $1.50 on top of the ~$4.50 price. Maybe there is a flavor combination here that blows the rest away, but its not evident by the menu. The combination of flavors and fillings can be overwhelming so someone not familiar with the brand. The original cream puff was just too bland. The smore's was ok with the ice cream, but definitely needs utensils to eat or else the shell topping smears all over your face. Could be for you, but not for me. Not a whole lot of places in that specific area to impulse buy $4-6 desserts, but I'll just go without.
Super cute tiny place serving tasty sweets that I used to have when I was a kid. Matcha filling is indeed my favorite. I would recommend choose the plain version if you are not into super sweet stuffs. There are a few seats but I for a quick stop and bites only.
Had the creme brulee, awesome taste! Not too sweet and no greasy feeling. Service was friendly and quick. I will definitely come back and try all different flavors! The only concern is that there's no bathroom or enough space for people to sit and eat there. I guess it's only good for a quick small bite, or just order to go.
Pretty DISAPPOINTED… I’ve been a huge fan of Beard Papa’s when I was in Asia. I tried out multiple flavors and all of them were awesome. However , the ones here, their crust was not right and the matcha filling was way too sweet. Since the price got tripled in the US, I was expecting at least the same quality as I had in Asia, but nope, they didn’t taste similar at all.
I’m so glad this Beard Papa’s location opened so close to my work! Now a short walk for the midtown folks craving the delicious and fresh cream puff that originated from Osaka, Japan! My favorite is the strawberry filled with green tea cream, it has the perfect balance of sweetness. Everything is made in house so the puffs are always fresh and such a delight in each bite. I’ve had the puffs from Osaka and this Beard Papa location’s fresh, aromatic, and delicious cream puffs take me back to Japan. In the pictures are: chocolate covered with marshmallow, green tea covered and strawberry covered puffs, with both original and green tea cream filling. This location has great natural light, is clean and the staff is super friendly, I’m definitely a regular customer!
Interesting light dessert place. Great concept. You choose you get to choose your shell and which filling you’d like. The filling is custard. Covid precautions are in place. Fluffy, puff pastries. Eclair was amazing, pretty disappointing with the custard filling, expected it to be a little sweet. Would try again. Quick and easy service
