Belk is a large department store located in many areas in the South. The Belk I visited is in Hilton Head South Carolina. It has a large selection of women's, men's and children's clothing. Sales are going on. Many items are buy one get two free. There is a large Home Goods section with small appliances, dishes, bedding and other household goods. There is ample free parking.

I went to purchase a purse. After spending time searching for a sales associate to help , to ask her to unlock the security tag attached to purse. She proceeded to tell me they "only unlock them if I intend to buy it.". Which I was...but I wanted also to purchase another item...also locked...she gave me the sam e response! Her tone of voice and attitude suddenly changed when she realised the woman (me) in the waitress uniform was about so spend over 500$. I went there to shop...not be judged for my attire. I deal with the public for a living...Lisa in the jewelry department needs an attitude adjustment. If I wouldn't have wanted the purse so badly I would have left. I won't be shopping at Belk any longer. Tangier outlets will be my shopping destination.

I tried to purchase a bra today and you would have thought it was rocket science. The woman at the counter clearly didn't want to help me. She wanted to chat with customers at the counter. I asked for a bra fitting and she complied but she measured me in an odd way and said I was measuring at much bigger than I actually am. She said she didn't have any bras that were in my size. Indeed, upon looking for a bra, there were sizes like 34 DD. But she had a couple of bras in hand. She told me to look around and she'd get right back to me. I had been waiting a total of 30 minutes, 15 at the counter waiting for her to measure me and then 15 when she went back to the counter. She gave a half-ass apology to me that she needs to help other customers. As I was waiting for her, I decided that my time is too precious to wait for her to do her job. I left. I went to Jockey. They got me the size that the Belk woman had measured me and the bra fell off of me! Belk sucks. Quit hiring retirees who use their job as social hour. You lost a sale. I'm never going back.
