My child is in 6th grade. The school is great...overall.
Pros-principal is great. Office staff great. Pros-Teachers seem fair and structured.
Pros-clean and friendly
Pros-overall decent curriculum
Pros-staff is great at helping-they even have a notary if needed for certain paperwork.
Pros-estby is updated accurately and frequently-so you can know kids grades on a daily/weekly basis
Pros-phone updates are clear and frequent. Great way to pass info.

Cons-police officer monitor yells "shut-up" often, while trying to get kids attention. Also says things like " you wanna fight you can fight me". I understand he has a tough job but it kind of scares some of the kids. My child said if there was a problem they would go to principle bc the officer is really rude all the time. I want my child to respect and feel safe with police-to know that uniform means protection. My child has not been in trouble(yet) but has watched others go to him for help and be shutdown. I guess i would like to see an officer enforcing rules and being a mentor/someone they can look up to.
Con-About 5/7 weeks into a new schedule for a 6th grader, they changed their schedule...math was one of these. The new teacher was further along in the lesson than the orginal teacher. This was unfair to the child. Please stop up-rooting these kids a few weeks into their schedule. It appears like you are unorganized and have poor planning. This may help the school but it penalizes the children. Its hard enough trying to get 8 classes down-then to switch as soon as they are getting use to the schedule is unfair to the kids and that should be the primary goal.

I am currently moving to 7th grade at Ben Hill Middle School. School is great! Education at its best, in a safe environment. Communication is key for the teachers here, and you will know that if you come. We can be involved in helping the community as well. 100% recommended

I love the school and all they have amazing staff to be thankful for and I'm going to the 7th grade and the school is an awesome place. They even have a student council meetings for those who apply and it's awesome because you get to give back to the community and the school!!!

I am impressed by the fantastic work the principal at this school is doing. Today I received an automated voicemail saying my 7th grade daughter was absent, so when I called the school, the principal went himself to check on my daughter. As a worry mom that meant a lot to me. There have been couple other situations where I have seen how much he cares about the students, that is why I want to say THANK YOU!!!! Every school should have a principal like him. Thanks for protect your students the way you do.
