The last time I was in the Cameron District in Raleigh, I wanted a coffee, so I tried the Benelux Cafe. I ordered a Sugar Free Vanilla Latte. It was excellent. There was no bitter taste, and the ratio between the shots, flavoring, and milk was on point. They did a great job with the atmosphere for what it is, but I will never understand why builders sometimes locate the bathrooms on a flat wall facing where people sit and, in this case, very close to the preparation area. I mean, one table is within a few feet from a bathroom door. Anyway, the coffee is delicious, and they also offer food if you are hungry. This Cafe is a must-try if you want a delicious coffee. Parking: I am not sure about the parking because the day I was there was at the same time as a road race. Lots of roads were closed Including part of the road in front of the cafe. I had to park next door and walk over. If I go back I will report back on the parking. Wheelchair accessibility: This cafe is Wheelchair friendly.
Good spot to study or 'work from home'. It's a large space with plenty of room to sit and isn't too loud. It's locally owned and they roast their own coffee! The staff is nice, helpful, and willing to make great suggestions; the barista, Guli, is very friendly. The bathrooms are large, but just average. They could be a little cleaner, but it wasn't bad... Just average. Coffee is good for a locally owned roastery, but not the best in Raleigh. I had the Americano. The shot was pulled well and the service was fast! The food/pastries looked good too! If you are near the village district and looking for good coffee and a place to hang out for a while, this is it!! Parking: Parking is hard anywhere in the Village District. You may have to walk a bit, but it's not usually any more than 2 minutes Kid-friendliness: They have chalk for you kids or kids at heart
Very cozy like coffee was sooo good a lot of variety would recommend for any coffee lovers also the have some food like waffles!Food: 5/5
I went there first time, it took a minute to find it specifically if you are coming from the other side and not from right front roadside of it. Nondescript front but inside is beautiful and record holding. There was no orange juice, so I make do with lemonade. Here comes the very charming and informally sweet owner Mr. Jeff, who entertained us with lovely conversations, actual facts and free sampling of mint chocolate and chocolate covered pretzels. He regaled us with the history behind the wall to wall panoramic painting totally made up of variety of coffee beans of various hues, being in Guinness Records for such feat. Decorations are eclectic and variety with French flag and some jewelry for sale. Clientele is mixed, mostly on younger side and few college crowds. Good vibes, clean bathrooms and good book collection and must visit at least once place…
I recently started coming to Benelux since it was taken over by a new management team/owners. The space is open and cozy at the same time. There is plenty of seating and they've created different areas within the space for different type of experiences. Meaning, there are comfy spaces for reading a good book or the paper, social spaces for meeting with groups, and more conventional work seating with electrical outlets. Most importantly, the staff are welcoming and serve up some great coffee. It doesn't hurt that there is a story behind the coffee that makes me happy to support Benelux.
The atmosphere is so cute, however the coffee was burnt to the point it tasted like straight battery acid. I felt bad for baristas even though they weren't rude they just didn't seem happy to be there. I have always heard such amazing things about this place so I was super disappointed. I looked up the business on Instagram and turned out the people who roasted the coffee recently stopped running the cafes, so I suppose that explains a lot. This was just disappointing.
I was here this morning to work and the music was SO LOUD. I asked the barista to turn it down nicely but he either didn't want to or know how to. It was the worst kind of 2012 folk pop music as well. Not a good place to work or even think with music that loud.
On 11/7 I purchased a small vanilla cold brew, and egg and cheese on a plain bagel, a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel, and a medium Vietnamese coffee. I believe I also left a tip. Service was terrible, and I never got my Vietnamese coffee or bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel because of how slow the service was and I was on my lunch break. My total for those 4 items was $36.64. I requested a refund for the two items I didn’t receive. I checked my bank today and only received a refund of $12.42. There is no way a vanilla sweet cream cold brew and an egg and cheese on a plain bagel is 24.22 even with the tip. I reached out to them for my receipt and requested the correct refund. They read my message and ignored my issue which I am now disputing with my bank. In addition to this issue the cashier was on his phone instead of assembling orders and when he did start assembling orders, he was on the phone with gloves on and was on his phone with the same gloves he was preparing meals with which is absolutely disgusting. Luckily he wasn’t working on the sandwich I did receive.
The new upgrades at Benelux coffee are top notch. Great quality food and drinks, as well as, a fantastic local coffee atmosphere. A clean place with a refreshingly friendly staff! Thanks for a great experience.Food: 5/5
Waffles are amazing! Small so not much seating space. No street parking but free parking garage. Parking: Parking garage behind building
