About

Bennie's Red Barn has been an Island tradition for locals and visitors since 1954! We offer hand cut steaks, local seafood, and a Southern Sunday brunch.

Story

Welcome to Bennie's Red Barn, the oldest privately owned restaurant on Saint Simon's Island! Nestled between beautiful live oaks, Bennie's has been a favorite of locals and tourists since 1954. No visit to the Golden Isles is complete without a visit to Bennie's!

At the Red Barn you can enjoy steaks grilled to perfection over an old-fashioned open oak flame, seafood, chicken, or spaghetti in a classic, family-friendly setting. If you had visited us back in 1954, you would have enjoyed the best steak and seafood served in the Golden Isles. Some things never change! Our steaks are still cut fresh and cooked over an old-fashioned wood fire and our fresh, local seafood is brought in daily.

The Club @ Bennie's is a rustic, indoor and outdoor venue located just next door to the Barn. Enjoy a cocktail at our famous TREEBAR or watch the game on either of the 2 big screens. Two outdoor fireplaces and multiple heaters will keep you warm in the winter while the ice cold beer, ceiling fans, and AC will cool you in the summer. The Club is southern casual and ready for your party, but we can help you gussie it up for a more formal event.

Experience an Island tradition at Bennie’s Red Barn! We look forward to serving you soon.

Very good food and service. The ambiance was great. We very much enjoyed the serenade from the live entertainment, right at our table. If visiting on a cool winter night, a sweater might be nice to bring along. The building is not insulated.

It's a cute location and easy to find. The hostess was very friendly with her welcoming. The waiter Dylan smelled like cigarettes when he came to greet us and get our drinks and mine came back with a large black floater which i had to show to the other helper before he would get me another one. The salad was wilted and looked like it has sat out for quite some time. I ordered the fried chicken and the breast was over cooked and breaking open however the other 3 pieces were under cooked because when I picked them up to put in the to go container there was pink blood under them. The bathrooms were new and nice except for all of the carpenter ants, some dead some not, all over the floor. I will give this place a second chance to determine if it was just a bad night or the norm for them. Food was fast coming out and my friends salmon was very good.

Very over rated. This is the type place you go to just to be able to say I have been there. More hipe than good food or cocktails

The waiter forgot my appetizer order which was my meal, charged to plate share and when told to bring me the check handed it off to my father. I was not at all happy with the service. My mother ordered the fried chicken and the breading was bland as far as taste went but the chicken itself was very moist. The steakhouse fries were as good as any I've had. The personality of the gentleman wandering around talking to patrons and singing was the highlight of the dinner!

Awesome!!! First, we walked in to this unbelievably gorgeous "barn". The chandeliers caught my eyes and were some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. We were greeted by the sweetest girl..I'm sorry I didn't get her name. We were seated at a quaint table with a red chckered table cloth -- real cloth with cloth napkins and a lighted candle. The gentleman who waited on us was so attentive...gave us the history of the restaurant since it was our first time there and looked after our every need. We were brought the most delicious ribeye we have ever had! Wait, let me back up to the salad with the BEST Italian dressing ever!!! My husband doesn't care for Italian dressing but upon finishing his salad asked if I thought they would give us their recipe. Then we heard a gentleman singing to a group at another table. Turns out his name is Chip and he sang for us and several more. He came and sat with us while we ate...now, normally I wouldn't like that, but with Chip it was different. We hung on his every word. He makes eating at Bennie's Red Barn feel like you are eating with family. We will be on the island for four nights and plan on going back every night. Tonight, we're going to get their famous fried chicken with sides of southern veggies and finishing off with homemade peach cobbler! Sorry for the long post, but I've never been to a restaurant worthy of a long post before.
