Story

Berks Oral Surgery, Ltd. is a full spectrum Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery practice of the highest quality, with special emphasis on dental implants. Our group was founded by the late Dr. James J. Ciabattoni (1932-1994) in 1975. In that same year, he was joined by Dr. Erwin H. Wolf II and Dr. John J. Ciabattoni. Dr. Andrew M. Rowan joined our group in 1989, and Dr. Fred J. Ciabattoni came aboard in 1991. In 2007, Dr. Steven D. Fallon joined the practice, and in 2013, we welcomed David L. Winans to the group. Dr. Geoffrey S. Zinberg and Dr. David M. Sibley, our latest additions, joined our group in 2015. This year we celebrate the 41st anniversary of our practice.

Our practice began on Penn Avenue in Wyomissing. We moved to our present Berkshire Blvd. location in 1991. Our building was planned, designed and built specifically for oral surgery. With the best equipment and instruments available, we have over 10,000 square feet of space. Our facility has the latest technology available.

All of our doctors are Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and are certified in Advanced Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Our entire surgical staff is certified in Basic Life Support.

Our doctors keep current with continuing education and are on the cutting edge of the latest advances and techniques in surgery and anesthesia. We are a true “team”, with daily discussions of cases and of special needs of patients. At Berks Oral Surgery our doctors have a combined experience of over 115 years!

For your convenience, we provide surgical care in three offices within Berks County, and our doctors are on call outside of office hours for emergency needs. All offices are fully equipped and provide full scope oral and maxillofacial surgical care and outpatient anesthesia.

Since Berks Oral Surgery was recommended for removal of our children's and my wife's first molars, I have been there a half dozen times. Fred Ciabattoni removed a flap of oral mucosa that had been bitten inside my mouth; it never bothered me since. But the most amazing feat of dental.legerdemain was when John Ciabattoni (they call them Dr Fred and Dr John) extracted tooth 17, commonly called a lower third molar. He reached inside my mouth and said "Let's see how this is.", then whipped his hand behind his back. I said "Oh, it feels better already." He showed me the tooth and told me that I had good ligaments (the connective tissue that holds your tooth in place). That was it; I hardly felt a thing. Stephen Fallon is my current dental surgeon. He has done three extractions, two implants and an apicoectomy. (My whole extended family has few natural teeth) I've seen doctor Fallon for consults as well and he always has the right answers. I still lose teeth occasionally, but at least there is a permanent solution. My reconstructive dentist is great, but there is a point where she asks me if I want to make an appointment with Berks Oral Surgery. Update: The week before Thanksgiving I lost a crown and post on tooth 15. Reconstructive dentist looked at it and I was scheduled to see Dr. Fallon when he is my area; the day before turkey day. Aside from the 10 minute wait for the local to take effect, I was in the office about 10 minutes. A crack to separate the roots and I felt Dr. Fallon draw one side out then the other (two roots). This is an upper tooth all the way in the back! You might think something that easy could be done by anyone, but just the opposite is true. Dr. Fallon's experience and skill is what made it go so quick. With no 'fooling around' by the dentist I've got almost no discomfort, no swelling, and will very likely not have any discoloration. I had candied sweets, mashed potatoes, soft filling with gravy, cranberries and 'uncle' Richards turkey that almost falls off the bones. Nothing crunchy or likely to leave small bits in my mouth.

Dr Winans is a great doctor. I will recommend him to anyone who needs any services he can provide. He is a genuine and caring person, and if for some reason he can't help you medically, he will do what he can to find someone who can. If I could give him 10 stars I would!

Poor Customer Service. Discriminatory practices for having secondary State Insurance for my child. As a result, canceled my daughter's surgery because of secondary insurance. I was willing to pay copay out-of-pocket and seek reimbursement from secondary insurance provider. But This unprofessional provider canceled my daughter anyway, leaving her in great pain and discomfort.

Dr Zinberg was wonderful. I was so nervous and he made it a great experience. My first time to get teeth pulled 3 of them wisdom teeth and he made me feel comfortable. Thank you Dr Zinberg

Dr. Winans was awesome. I was very nervous before my wisdom tooth extraction and he was calming and the anesthesia was flawless. The front reception staff are also welcoming and receptive. I would recommend him to anyone.
