Great hotel. Friendly staff. Rooms are clean and well appointed, but showing some wear. Breakfast is certainly enough to start the day. Ate supper at the Lakeside and the Thanksgiving special was extremely well done. Parking is free as is breakfast. Though not downtown, close to Halifax Shopping Centre. Has been our go to place for several years.

The reason I give 5 stars is because This place has the best staff an the place is very clean and the food is great an we will come back again. If you need a good sleep an a great meal this is the place to go we had the Salmon, it cost more but it is done to perfection an I also recommend a good white wine and a pear crisp desert. Make sure you get a window seat and get a window view from your room the best

Great choice, good location between downtown Halifax and the outer shopping areas/smaller highways to various other tourist/visitor destinations. Sits on very pretty and quiet little lake with easy access and beach and picnic tables. Al Fresco dining off the main dining room was a pleasant choice for seating if one desired, overlooking the lake. The dining room food was very good, and served with flair. Had a wonderful dinner there in the evening. The hot buffet breakfast was among the top 3 of such that I have had as a "freebie" in hotels worldwide; food was good, frequently replaced and the selection was amazingly broad. They had, and marked as such, gluten-free choices; though those were of no matter to me personally, but I imagine were for some travelers. I think it maybe the only "free" hotel breakfast I have seen with regular "whole milk", skimmed milk, and unsweetened almond milk available on the buffet line. All in all, the breakfast would have suited "regular diets", gluten-free, sugar-free, lactose-free, low-fat, and vegetarian customers. Not bad! Room overlooked the lake (try for one of those: great view), was quiet, and comfy. And, I greatly appreciated the actual (well-anchored) safety grab-bar, as opposed to just a towel bar, on the inner wall of the combined shower/bathtub, even though it was not a handicapped room. (Considering how handy as those bars are, and how much added safety they bring for anyone, it is amazing how rare they are in almost every other hotel, unless you request a handicapped room, which I do not otherwise need or want.) Dog friendly hotel for anyone traveling with their best friend! Even a doggie-treat cookie jar in the lobby. :)

My husband and I stayed here for three nights. Our room was very clean, spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The thermostats were easy to use and adjust - making our stay even more comfortable. The complimentary buffet breakfast is great (for a free breakfast)! Go early if you want a table though. It's popular! The location is fantastic too! We had our vehicle so it was easy to get to and from downtown Halifax and the Waterfront (about a 7-10min drive depending on traffic). They have a new hotel dog named Aero and he's very cute!

We were only at the hotel for one night but the staff upon arrival were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and everything in the room worked well. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and hot with lots of options to pick from. The view of the lake was beautiful and it was warm enough to eat outside which made for a very relaxing experience.
