A really well done museum marks the site of the 1969 Woodstock concert. The original outside area, plus a small monument/marker are still here. A huge new outdoor performance theater where current concerts are held is part of the not-for-profit venue, as is an indoor events hall. Guided tours are wonderful. We went on two, with Steve who worked on the lighting in 1969, and Jim, who attended. They both gave different but exceptional tours. I think it made a big difference that they had experienced Woodstock themselves. Military discount is free!

Enjoyed a great concert here by Neil Diamond. The sound system is phenomenal & the big screens make it possible to see even if you have distant lawn tickets. Pack your patience for both the approach to the venue (long lines of bumper to bumper traffic) & exiting the lots (a slow go). We were in the furthest lot (A) so the walk up to the pavilion was a bit long...but..."last in, first out"...we got out onto the main street pretty quickly....much faster than friends in Premium parking (closer to pavilion). I'd choose the outer lot again...the walk is good exercise! 😊. 4 stars due to traffic snarls.

What a thrill it is to stand on the former site of the 1969 Woodstock music festival. It's well worth the 2 hour drive from NYC. The scenery is breathtaking and you can still feel the music. It truly is sacred ground. To complete the tour, drive about an hour east to "Big Pink" near Saugerties where Bob Dylan & the Band recorded the music that changed the sound of the rock & roll.

Great vibes! It is ground zero for peace, love and music. Has great history, it's the original site for the world famous 3 day of Woodstock concert in August of 1969. And it continues to carry the age of Aquarius on today. It has world class concerts, a fascinating museum covering the entire decade of the 60s commucating the background story leading up the all time 3 day music and arts concert where 400,000 plus attended

The Woodstock Festival museum was interesting, but if you are going to actually SEE the original site of the festival, you will probably be as disappointed as I was. The original site is not within view of the museum, and all paths down to that area are blocked with gates saying keep out. Once I got my bearings I got back into my car and drove about a ¼ mile down the road to the parking area for the Historic Register marker. That was about the best view I had of the actual festival grounds. Even this was fenced off to keep you out. The few access gates into this area were blocked by SECURITY vehicles. You’d think that you were trying to get into Area 51 or something! I have wanted to make this trip for about 7 years, and it finally worked out that I would be up in NY with a ½ day available, but it was not all I hoped it would be. I really wanted to walk the grounds and take it all in - but all I got was a peak over the fence. Sorry, but this policy makes no sense to me.
