My family and I were staying at a campground in the Outer Banks but had to leave early because of a hurricane in the Atlantic. While we were so sad for our beloved OBX, we were also sad because our vaca was being cut short. We decided to stop and stay at the Big Bear Family Campground and we were so glad we did! It is very scenic with paths to walk and a little doc down at the fishing pond. The people there were very accommodating and friendly. We'll probably try to get back during the summer because they had a really nice pool that had already been drained and cleaned for the fall/winter. Can't wait!!❤ Thanks so much, Tobie

Very well managed by a very pleasant staff. Country atmosphere with a pool and a fishing pond. Just right for the retired camper or a great location if you have contract work in the area. No worries for children and plenty to keep them busy.

Arriving at this place everything was nice. Tent sites with Power and water needed some TLC for sure but good prices. We arrive there and older lady was so sweet! Asked to stay a week and it was no prob. Now driving to the sites there were suppose to be 10+ sites with power available . They were available however none of the power worked. Actual power lines coming from the ground! Sites were kinda close as well. So we pitch a tent hoping to get power from someone else I tell her the situation and she puts us down right on the water near the dock and nice large area, we were completely over joyed! Being some what away from the lifer's that live there seemed like we had privacy . That wasn't the case at all!! So nosey and always acted as if we were a problem and shouldn't be there. Got 2 ridiculous complaints that had ZERO truth behind it. So all down hill from there. I even told the same lady and TALK ABOUT RUDE!! We stayed for a total of 3weeks.Getting the 3rd week same lady says to my wife "I thought you guys were just on vacation???" I walked in on this and her also saying someone had this crazy claim telling her" I'm sorry ma'am but there wrong. We keep our peace and that didn't happen." she says "OH IM NOT WRONG! " I explained I didn't say she was.. So after our week we try to get 4-5 more days till we leave north and she said " Absoutley NOT!" Well the lady that lived there and worked there had to call her (for some strange reason). Made up some story about how our spot was reserved for a family! We asked to just more to a diff site with the same result! Now getting past the very unfriendly feel of this place the tent prices weren't bad HOWEVER the game room and laundry is way over priced!! The washing room needs a HUGE make over along with the whole bath house! No heat nor AC. No vents! A mesh rug to stand on will getting dressed or un-dressed. Diqusting! Mold and grime everywhere. Taking a shower wasn't pleasant here what so ever! Most of the people that live there all work there!! Which you would think would be good but they get to do what they want. Arging late night! Cussing loudly, having the police called! Wouldn't recommend this place!
