It's the Big Bear Hostel...what else can I say. I think I payed $20 for a bunk, showers, food, lounging around, laundry, and a ride to the trailhead the next morning.

I’ve backpacked in about 25 different countries and always stay in hostels and my boyfriend and I both agree that this one is the best we have ever stayed at. Right next to the village so everything is a two minute walk away but also nice and quiet. Parking right by the building. Everything is super clean and well maintained. Super huge kitchen to use. Fun communal areas. Rooms are nice and warm at night. And every space is very well thought out (trash cans and paper towels everywhere, curtains for the room windows in the morning, plenty of outlets). Perfect amount of bathrooms that are large and very clean. We haven’t needed for anything during our visit. :) The owner (sarge) is so on top of everything and is such a great guy. Great WiFi, advice, recommendations, and connections in town (we got a discount everywhere we went in town by saying we were staying at the hostel!). A+++ would recommend. Thank you Sarge! Keep up the great work!

Im thru hiking and asked nicely and polite for a pen so I could make a sign to meet with my friends and got pushed and a knife pulled on me by one of the owners he appears to have anger problems look out I'm not happy at all I was nothing but nice

Great place to hangout with hikers when you need a break from the trail. Sarge is a personality that once you get used to, you can't help but love. The staff was great, the rooms were clean and you are within walking distance to many restaurants and shops.
