Worth the day trip if you have an interest in seeing how coal miners worked and lived. You get to peer into the actual entrance of Blue Heron Mine #18. Then, make sure you stick around for Ranger Doug's informative presentation which gives you a real feel for the mining life. You will leave there enlightened! We purchased rail tickets only, not the lunch combo. You can pack a lunch, as small coolers are permitted.

If you like a scenic ride this train ride is most definatly for you. They have exelent concessions and a great gift shop.

Beautiful place for couples or family nice dry to the mine and the Big South Fork. Good for picnic and pass all the day with your family, the ticket include museum pass when finished train Drive

My 4 year old enjoyed the train ride so much.  It was nice being able to go to the Blue Heron mine where my grandparents's and great grandparents worked.

Great train ride and friendly people. The pack lunch is terrible and over priced.
