Billings Public Library -- Imagine...Inform...Inspire!

Established in 1901, the first library was donated in memory of Parmly Billings, eldest son of Frederick Billings for whom the city of Billings was named.

Today, you can find books, DVDs, audiobooks and much more at the Library. In fact, you can even use the Library from our website, or check out the bookmobile or senior services when they come to your neighborhood.

The people there are very nice and helpful. I love how you can check out and return books on your own without having to wait in line. The one thing that would be better is if there were more books, audiobooks, etc. I feel like there's not as much as I wish to choose from. Maybe I should donate a few of my favorites or write a few or something. The children section has a good variety

The library is lacking in material for such a large city. I came from a town with 25,000 people and an amazing, anything you could ask for library. We were weekly library goers there so I had high hopes for Billings Public Library. This was a let down. The transients lurking around have caused me to do a turnabout several times and find a bookstore. I wish this was a place where my teen son could use the computers and hang out by himself for s while but it is not. I would feel much safer with him at the mall, unfortunately he will not be learning or researching at a mall. Disappointed with this library.

To the people complaining about the homeless: WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING TO HELP THEM, INSTEAD OF COMPLAINING!! Where else can they go? It's cold outside and the shelters kick them out during the daytime! Should they sit in the cold and freeze? Maybe you guys can get together and open a place where the homeless can go during the day! Put yourself in their shoes! If you can! Now, back to the review. Several months back, I experienced problems with a couple of the staff members. They seemed quite rude and insensitive but in recent months these ladies have been wonderful! So, I guess maybe they were experiencing a stressful time, which we have all gone though at some point in our lives!!

The library is a great community spot. They're able to host events and speakers now, and the new building really paid off. It has a nice, modern look and the staff is friendly.

It's a nice place. Beautiful scenery with the large windows, but it is scary to walk around, looking at books, and see a drunk try to ask you, and others, for money. On only 2 occasions did I see a security guard out of my many monthly visits to the library. The Teenager section, of the library, is not a safe place for teens/young adults. Even though, it is a place for teens only, you will still see older people around there, sitting in the seats that are for teens only. Honestly, I'd rather support the local cafes, and bookstores than have free books with no security for myself and others.
