Story

Billy and Yanna Kounoupis purchased Rudy’s Newsstand at 10 E. Broad St. in Bethlehem, on September 29th, 2000. They wanted to create something as unique and dynamic as the communities they were in. With a creative eye for delicious food and a lot of hard work, Billy’s Downtown Diner was born.

November 22nd, 2013 started another chapter for Billy’s Downtown Diner by opening our second location serving downtown Allentown.

First I would like to mention, don’t expect to walk in on a Sunday morning and get a seat on time. Me and my wife waited a half hour to get seated (which is understandable); but to go inside and wait another 30mins to an hour was a test for patience, and luckily we had some patience. The waitress only interacted with us when asking for our orders, and after my first bite, and after we left. Other than that, she treated us like we didn’t exist until she had to deal with us.

I gave this place two chances since it was across from my hotel. The ambience is great, and it's a very clean restaurant, which I appreciate. I sat at the counter both days: Day 1 - I received great, attentive service; Day 2 - I had to watch waitresses pass me by for 10 minutes before I could order water and coffee. 

Besides the 50/50 service, the food just doesn't have much flavor. The first day, I ordered the Zip City Benedict... for $14, you would expect a plate full of savory, delicious food. Instead, I found myself pouring salt and pepper on the plate just to taste it (and I never use salt and pepper.) 

Day 2, I ordered Pano's Omelette. The same thing here with flavor, and my eggs were actually kind of cold. Like they'd been sitting there for a while. 

Ultimately, this place was disappointing.

I visit Billy's at least once a month, sometimes more. My friends and I meet for breakfast on a regular basis and this is our place. The decor is really cool, and I love the music that they play. Not a typical diner. Great food and friendly servers!

I've been here a few times.  The food is pretty good, but the service is almost always slow.  One time with a large group (~12 people), we waited over an hour for our food.  Yesterday as a party of two, we waited half an hour.  If you have the time and a good friend to talk to, I'd recommend it.  But if you're short on time, find somewhere else.

I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Billy's. We waited nearly an hour to get cold food. When we asked the supervisor about our food, he just looked at us dumbly. Then he said he would check on the food, which he did not do (I was seated where I could see what he did). The service was subpar. And only after expressing our displeasure for the third time did we get the attention of the manager, who was only moderately sympathetic to our experience.
