Story

The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library is a major hub of the community and we welcome over 398,000 visitors annually. We circulate over 520,000 items and log over 175,000 public computer and Wi-Fi sessions every year!

We are a full-service municipal library directly handling the needs of Bismarck and Burleigh County residents. As a member of Central Dakota Library Network (CDLN), we offer direct access to materials and resources in libraries throughout Burleigh, Morton, McLean, Mercer and Oliver Counties, with a collection of over 560,000 items.

Our vision is to provide personal enrichment to all, and we are always searching for new ways to meet the needs of the community. Beyond our vast collection of material, access to computers, and research assistance, we also provide a wide variety of programs and events for all ages.

We look forward to serving you!

Great library. Very friendly and helpful staff and a wide selection of books (including audio books), movies, and even a basement ("downstairs") which I have not even explored yet but was told they rent fishing equipment! As I type this, they are using the basement to donate to homeless people in the area. A wonderful place!

Awesome first experience at the library! Sheldon set me up with a card in less than ten minutes. The library is stunning, excited to be a part of a community with such a delightful library.

The Bismarck Veterans Public Library is great. The librarians are kind and helpful. The library itself is innovative and impactful in the community. They have a new teen center that is a great space for kids to get together and not negatively impact the rest of the users. They hold great events like the recent Comic Con that allowed people to come together and share their hobbies and passions.

Very disappointed with this library. It is very noisy and some of the people don't understand that a library is supposed to be quiet. Cell phone usage is permitted despite the fact there are signs all over the library stating that it is a no cell phone zone. I recommend the Billings, Montana library over this one any day.

Big and beautiful library. Features a great children's section. It's quiet and well organized, with very friendly and helpful librarians. They used to have this halloween sketch comedy vhs available for rent, but it seems to have either disappeared off the face of the earth, or to have never actually existed and just been a figment of my imagination. Either way, without it I have lost the will to live.
