Good traditional American Steakhouse -  we have eaten here maybe 25 times and he food is competitively priced and well made.  Service is almost always good to excellent.  I recommend the Prime Rib.  My wife prefers the shrimp.  You do not need reservations but after 6 pm fri and sat I would recommend them.

I have always considered Black Angus to be a wonderful restaurant for above average prime rib. In many states I am satisfied there when I have a taste for prime rib. Today I patronized the black angus in El Cajon and I must state that I would have been embarrassed to serve that piece of fat even to my dog. A thin slice of meat with 40%+ fat. Right where you expect the best bites of meat to be was a circle of fat the size of a tennis ball. I know a small amount adds to its juiciness but this (over 3.7 oz of fat) was far beyond that. Simply a soggy sampling of cholesterol but not for this customer. And Never Again! Yes, I sent it back but was told all they had to offer was equal in the amount of fat and off of the same rib roast. Replacing it with BBQ beef ribs just doesn't compensate when you've got a taste for prime rib. It's back to the Texas Roadhouse or the Outback for me. I can't see Black Angus staying in business while insulting these great steers with inferior servings.

My wife & I decided to go to the Black Angus again. We had just received the mailer coupon (u know, the one "everyone received") for free lobster with purchase of a steak. We arrived & forgot the coupon. They had Nothing for us. No its all good, it's just the mailer one. No pay full price now then get refunded to coupon price later. The hostess only said No, No, Can't help you. Rude

Our meal here was quite good. The prime rib was quite tasty although it initially came to us undercooked. And they cheerfully took it back and the return product was perfect. Our waiter Peter made every effort to bring anything that we might need. Plus to sweeten the deal, the online coupon was one that could not be beat.
