We had a great experience, great food, service and atmosphere. We ordered two appetizers, fried pickles and fried green beans they were both excellent. Our main course was the sirloin for two, it was cooked to perfection. Our server was excellent, the meal came out at the right pace (appetizer, salad, main course) We did call ahead for a reservation so there was no wait. I highly recommend the black patch!

The place looked appealing from the street; historic and interesting inside, so we checked out the menu and decided the burgers sounded great. They came with fries and I imagined a large satisfying burger. They also had a few good beer selections on tap at $4 - $5 a glass, so we were convinced. Waited 1.5 hours for an available reservation. Another 50 minutes to be seated. Appetizer was tiny, .....really tiny. Another couple received similar tiny portions and just stared at their plates in disbelief. After all the time invested in getting seated and accepting the microscopic appetizer, the waitress took our order and returned 20 min later to say they ran out of ground beef, so no burgers. Finally got chicken sandwiches (chicken breast was moist & well seasoned, but didn't overcome the disappointment over the lack of burgers). Ever play pick up sticks? That's what the fries were like. Couldn't stab them with a fork they were so thin. My wife likes to eat fries one by one, but she had to abandon that idea because they were just so small & thin; like eating twigs. I guess they cut them like that to make the portion look larger than it is, but I think it is misleading to call them french fries. Pros; Moist chicken, good beer, nice decor Cons: Hours lost, very small Portions, Under-stocked kitchen, sub-standard "French fries", little effort to compensate for shortcomings, the most disappointing part of our visit to "Hop-town".

My wife and I went here on a Saturday evening for dinner. I had shrimp scampi and my wife had the rainbow trout. Both were very good, the shrimp scampi had less butter and more lemon juice than how most restaurants fix it. I appreciated the lemony scampi. Beer list is a bit limited, but adaquet, I actually had a Riesling with my scampi, which went very well, it was one of the better Rieslings I had recently. Overall a very good experience.

Outstanding service, great ambience, a little long on the wait for the bill. The fried pickles were outstanding. We had two plates. The rest of the food was okay. It needed a little bit more seasoning but otherwise not bad.

My wife and i ate dinner on the 2nd evening they were open and were 100% satisfied. The menu options are exceptional, the service outstanding and food presentation and quality were absolutely amazing. If you're looking to get away from the chain, screaming kids and enjoy a pleasant dining experience them this is it!
