Blackthorn pizza offers a variety of choices, but when it comes to their pizza the Chicago Deep dish is the absolute way to go. A large or 14” is more than enough for a family of 4. My husband and I ordered a large Chicago deep dish for 2 and will have about 4-5 gigantic slices of heaven waiting for us the next day or two. The crust is stuffed with cheese and has just the right amount of pizza sauce - not too little not too much. The cheese on top is super stretchy and just so good. It is located in a tucked away corner south of tower grove and offers street side parking. The inside is filled with tvs for sports watching and a lot of fun bar games. I prefer the shuffleboard - so fun - and they have skew all and other things as well. The beer selection is great for simple and particular beer drinkers alike. Despite the ridiculously thick pizza, the service is pretty quick and staff is friendly. It’s a combination of family and party scene and a great place to bring guests visiting from out of town who may not be familiar with the Chicago deep dish style. An absolute must try if you haven’t already.
Chicago is like a second home, so I grew up on deep dish pizza. Blackthorn’s pizza can go toe to toe with Chicago’s best. Loved the sauce with slightly spicy, but flavorful. Cheese melted to perfection. Excellent service and entertainment. Definitely a spot you want to check out if you’re in or outside of St. Louis
Literally the best pizza I have ever had!! The place is very unassuming but the people inside are warm and friendly. Word of warning….the slices are HUGE!! I could only finish one slice!!
My friend ravedddddddd about this pizza here and I’d never heard of anyone talking about it to be fair I am new here so I thought how good could it actually be? Especially since I pulled up and it was a very laid back environment.. Well, it’s GREAT not just good. Great meat. Great cheese! GREAT SAUCE. Great portions! Great prices! Just overall great! I was thinking about this pizza ever since I had it. And I am definitely the type to double back on a place next day if that’s good. This is a place I wish i did! I have since moved and been craving this pizza ever since. I definitely want to come back and try their famous thick crust. I just wanted to take it slow and focus on the flavor as opposed to being stuffed full and I cannot wait to revisit. This place is definitely added to my places of MUST GO in STL! You will NOT be disappointed.
Great beer selection and vibe but my pizza was clearly raw, and the bartender didn’t consider that it’s possible a mistake was made. I was polite and discrete trying to point out my dough was undercooked, and the bartender became defensive immediately. I didn’t feel like fighting to be heard, so I’ll leave the evidence here. Based on my experience, I won’t be back.
Great as always. Takes a hour to cook but worth all the time. Just like back in the day when you went to a pizza place with your kids and spent time talking and playing video games. It's the way you should spend an evening with your family.Food: 5/5
Well now, you talk about a loaded Chicago style pizza big time. Meat lovers has so much meat and one piece will do ya. Warm big time, you don't have to worry about it getting cold. Got the 16 inch, lordy 12 or 15 would have been more than enough. Call it in as it takes awhile too cook. Only 4 pieces gone on this one, you can freeze it too. Shout out to the kitchen, scumptous as always.

One of my favorite pizza places in St. Louis. I always get the deep dish pizza. It tastes fantastic and is also a fantastic value. It's by far the heaviest by weight and most filling pizza I've had. And I mean that in a good way. The first time the waitress handed me one of the deep dish pizzas I couldn't believe how heavy it was. There were a couple times I had to wait a few minutes beyond the promised pickup time, but it wasn't a big deal.
Wowza. Really filling, obviously. First timer and not disappointed. I was too hungry when the garlic cheese bread came so didn’t take a photo but we got the small and it looked a little like a cheese pizza. Amazing bread. The pizza: sauce is different but I loved it. Partner thought it was okay but he likes dominos so you can judge his pizza tastes we ordered a large sausage and pepperoni pizza and couldn’t even finish one piece each so we have 6 leftover. Very informal place but I’ve been wanting to try it for years. Simple menu and you order at the bar. Will definitely return as I love Tower Grove. Thanks for an amazing time and great meal!
