Nice and historic place. ample parking. Very urban.
Unfortunately, the museum I wanted to see was closed,
according to the sign in the door. And, there was a tent set up
with blasting techno music - right next to the "no amplified music"
sign. Could hear that as far as we hiked. Paved trails, shared
with bikes and rollerblades. Not much shade.

It's a park that's very lovely all year round. It's also full of history since it was the setting for the Battle of Bladensburg during the War of 1812. If history isn't your thing, there are plenty of nature trails. I've seen cranes at that park a few times.

The museum about the War of 1812 was fabulous, we also learned about the local dueling grounds in the 19th century.  Our kayak rental was only $26 for the day which is the best deal in the D.C. area.  Paddling on the river was easy and a pleasure.

On this website it says it closes at 8:30 got here 4:55 it saying ity closes at 5. Uh smh

Beautiful place with a nice view of  the river. And with a diversity of animals in their natural habitat such as beavers, ducks, hawks, rabbits, geese, snakes, deer and different birds. Beautiful trails for walking or biking. The place is fantastic and very relaxing.
