My wife and I decided to try out Meliora tonight. Let me tell you, dinner did not disappoint. They tell you it’s like tapas small plates, but I would say some of the portions were slightly larger than your usual tapas. We ended up getting five dishes between the two of us, as well as two of their gin craft cocktails. The flavors were balanced, exciting, and seduced us for more as we waited for our next course. You start by telling them which plates you’d like to enjoy and they execute them with just the right amount of time in between.. not making you feel too overwhelmed, or too impatient for the next. Our waiter was excellent and gave beautiful recommendations. The owner himself delivered one of our dishes. I definitely recommend coming here for a burst of explosive and home-y dishes that you don’t get often elsewhere. *chefs kiss*
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. Fusion cuisine, maximized. These dishes have a flavor from every part of the world - and not just a basic flavor, but something special. Tapas style dishes, best served in courses. The bar serves a cheeseburger that you can't order when you sit in the dining area - you must sit at the bar only if you want to order the cheeseburger. Drinks are eclectic, dessert is fantastic. Service is the best, hands down. This is the business you try to emulate, no matter what industry you're in. The experience is unforgettable.
I made a reservation for my friend Laura’s birthday and we had an excellent experience. They went above and beyond by seating us at the chefs table. The chef explained the dishes to us. The environment was great, prices weren’t bad and service was excellent. Highly recommend! I love that there’s a restaurant like this in our Hillview neighborhood.
Incredible experience. Every plate we tasted tonight was unique and delicious. The small plate style worked well for the 2 of us. We had 6 plates to the 2 of us and honestly 5 plates would have been plenty. We left super full and satisfied. The waiter knew his stuff. His description of the dishes was very helpful and his recommendations were perfect. The owner Bruce took some time to come over and thank us for dinning with them. After chatting we expressed that we were super curious to try the spicy noodles but it wasn't in the budget for the evening. Shortly after Bruce brought a complimentary bowl of the spicy noodles to our table for us as he knew we really wanted to try them and they are proud of the food they serve. They were of course delicious and we were very grateful for the kind gesture. A wonderful evening and date night for my wife and I. $190 for 5 plates and 2 drinks. You can easily spend that at a steak house on steaks/seafood that you have tried before. Why not try something new and unique. Most interesting restaurant in Sarasota. Thank you to the staff and Team at Meliora! Next time we are in Sarasota we will return.
Wonderful at the chef’s table; next trip to Sarasota we will return. Japanese milk bread was very special. Sliced raw scallop and beet salad were also very good.Food: 5/5
Bruce was a treat and made the experience extra memorable. Small plate, higher end dining experience in Sarasota. Wine might be a good choice to pair with the meal. The duck with bao bun was my favorite, along with cauliflower. My husband loved the cold noodles with ground duck. Consider the chef's counter in the back near the fresh fish on display.
Absolutely hands down one of the best meals I’ve had all year. Highly recommend the gnocchi, the raw scallop appetizer, and the tartine appetizer. And for the rest of my life, if someone asked me what I’d want for my last meal, I’d say “give me the gnocchi at Meliora”. I cannot emphasize how much it stood out despite everything else being so good already. On my first bite, I had to close my eyes and stop chewing so that I could comprehend how amazing it tasted and how light the texture was. Throw everything you’ve ever described as “pillowy” in the trash because this gnocchi should be the only thing in the dictionary under that word. While the drinks are pricey and the meal overall was higher than average for a night out, it is 100% worth it. We were swept off our feet.
We had a terrific experience. We had a nice table in front of the kitchen, and what a show! food was wonderful and our server was very attentive. Spencer recommended this place he’s a really good bartender. The coconut dessert drink was really good.
Food, drinks, service, ambiance, experience was absolutely stellar. Josh was our server and was so absolutely pleasant, made the experience that much better. 11/10 would recommendFood: 5/5
We were in town from Baltimore and recommended this spot by other Baltimore friends who relocated to the area. The chef here is from Baltimore. It was absolutely top notch service, food and over all experience. The cocktail program was incredible. Some clever twists on old favorites that allow for good presentation. The food was absolutely on point. I’d eat everything I had again for sure. There were no disappointments at all. FYI no matter what you are doing make sure you try the marinated tomatoes. Absolutely the star of the show. I could eat dozens of plates of them and not get tired of them. Absolutely worth a trip here.
