The Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art is the fine arts museum of Northwestern University and Chicago’s North Shore. It serves the academic and cultural needs of the University and community through:

Mission Statement

The Mary and Leigh Block Museum of Art enriches teaching and learning on the campuses of Northwestern University and in the communities of their surrounding regions by:

Presenting art across time, cultures, and media;

Convening interdisciplinary discussions in which art is a springboard for exploring issues and ideas;

Collecting art that supports the Northwestern University curriculum.

Vision Statement

• To be a dynamic, imaginative, and innovative teaching and learning resource at Northwestern University through an artistic program that is a springboard for thought-provoking discussions relevant to the curriculum and to our lives today.

• To inspire and develop a new generation of artists, scholars, and arts professionals by providing experiential learning opportunities bridging the classroom and the world beyond the campus.

Admission Unless otherwise noted: $4.00 for Northwestern University faculty, staff and students with valid WildCARD; students from other schools with valid college/university ID; seniors 60 and older $6.00 for the general public $20.00 for a quarterly pass Doors open thirty minutes prior to showtime. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive early to purchase your tickets. Films are screened in the Block Museum’s Pick-Laudati Auditorium. See Directions and Parking for information on how to get to the Musuem. Parking is free in the lot south of the Block after 4 p.m. weekdays and all day on weekends.

One of the perks of being a #collegestudent..."museum-ing" while on #campus. #CulturalCompetency is not only learned in the classroom.

Really nice small museum. The people are really kind and nice - they encourage to make a visit to museum again. They had Tseng Kwong Chi exhibition going on and an Iranian film festival inside the building.

The Phantom Limb exhibit going on right now is INSANELY cool. Make sure to watch the documentary in the back room all the way through!
