Looking in from the sidewalk, this bar reminded me of several bars in NYC and that's when we realized we needed to stop in for drinks after our show. Unfortunately, when we returned the bar was quite full and very much focused on the UNC basketball game, so we pulled up to the stools along the window and ordered our drinks. Although room is tight, it was a comfortable and friendly environment, they even had an extensive selection of games, to include many board games. The bartender was an absolute sweetheart and didn't skip a beat. We finally saw a vacancy at the bar continued drinks from there. This great little neighborhood bar makes it easy to sit and meet new people, play a few games and enjoy a few drinks, what more could you ask for? Cheers!
Always a friendly crowd. Bartenders very cordial. Meet a variety of different folks.
Late night on a Tuesday after everything else was closed I found the Blue Horn. Cold beer and good cocktails, this spot is a great place to kick one or two back while doing some walking around town
An amazing experience on so many levels. Best dive in chapel hill. Upon walking in, this bar feels like “home”. And Zane made us feel like family. Zane went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and appreciated to be there. The selection is amazing and his recommendations were on point. In fact, I wish I lived here just so I could be a regular. I have traveled extensively and consistently and it’s rare to find a place that just *feels* so right, but this is the place, and Zane is one of the best bartenders I’ve come across in my past 10 years of traveling seeking a genuine “dive”. He not only was my bartender, I literally can now call him a friend because of the exceptional, friendly service. Would visit chapel hill again just to come back here.
The Blue Horn Lounge, if y'all are walkin' down Franklin St. don't blink. You might miss it. This little waterin' hole in the wall is a great place to bring your friends to quench your thirst. A great selection of the spirits. Unfortunately they only have bottled and canned beer and seltzer. The Bar Tender was friendly and is a pleasure to to have as a tender. Nonetheless it is one establishment I will definitely return and drink. Cheers y'all!
Always love a small quality bar with great service!! Just moved into the area and found this gem! Met people who are regulars here, great bartenders, and I felt like I was part of the crowd. Recommend this place 10000%%
During an overnight visit to CH back in May while planning a move from Austin, TX, I found this awesome spot while perusing Franklin. Stopped in and felt immediately at home. Great staff, great people, perfect atmosphere. Austin has some amazing bars, but the Blue Horn made me feel like I am not going to miss them as much as I thought. Andrew was bartending and he was "breaking in" some new talent, Angelica. Good luck Angelica, hope you made the cut.
I would definitely support the two reviews below. Kayla and the manager Andrew are in no way good representatives of this bar. They hold their personal relationships over their professional and it’s disrespectful to the bar and it’s patrons
First visit to this bar last night and I will definitely be going back. The bar has a great atmosphere and real sense of community. Chip, the bartender does a great job taking care of everyone with not only extremely fast service, but also goes out of his way to have a conversation with everyone in the bar to get to know them.
Your man Tony B might be the sweetest, most wholesome and friendly neighborhood bartender you've ever met. The Blue Horn is a cool little space, can get a little packed as capacity is maybe 40 people, tops? That said, they've got a great ambiance, lots of wood paneling and whiskey. Good variety of excellent whiskey, while we're on the topic. Always a decent spot to hit if you're on Franklin St and looking for something a little quieter than the college scene.
