I do not write reviews ever but I came across reviews for BlueStar that were totally unfair, inaccurate and obviously written by people that do not have a clue.  No wonder these people “lost money”.  BlueStar is a third party administrator for 401k plans and has nothing to do with the underlying plans, investments or strategies; that is up to the sponsoring company of the 401k plan and individual participant elections.  If someone lost money in their 401k plan or did not get the return they desired, it’s a result of the investment that THEY chose, not the fault of the third party administrator.  In fact, from long time experience, BlueStar does a fabulous job of providing educational materials to help participants make educated choices, however ultimately the responsibility is on the participant to insure they are investing their money in accordance with their own risk tolerances and objectives.  BlueStar has a first class website and best in class customer service.

They get no stars from me and I only picked on so I could post my review! I attempted to cancel this account so I could put the funds in my IRA with Fidelity. However since they charge you $100 fee then money I earned and came out of my paycheck cannot be returned since it will cost more than what's saved. I was automatically enrolled into this account during my stint on a contract position. The money that was put into this account only covered July to September being my last month on contract. At this time I am trying to add to my portfolio and the little bit would have helped.

Terrible service, terrible return on investment. Frankly, not sure they invested any of my money as I saw virtually zero growth over a period of several months during a healthy market period from early spring 2017 to October 2017. I called to inquire and after about 8 attempts to get through the automated system, I got ahold of someone who was supposed to look into my account and still have yet to receive a return phone call after several weeks. Do NOT use the people.
