In Argentina, the idea of ​​a bodegón refers to a gastronomic establishment whose menu consists of traditional dishes at affordable prices. These places are not known for sophistication or elegance, but their main attraction is the food quality. If you are looking for Argentinean products, El Bodegón del Sur has the most authentic and representative ones: empanadas, alfajores, sandwiches de miga, yerba mate, and all kind of local food. Some of them are home made. The place has the look and feel of a traditional argentine bodegón, and the business is owned by a very proud family. I highly recommend it if you are looking to buy some Argentinean products.
A friend recommended this place to me and They DON’T have prices on their website and when i called to ask about their prices they Didn't have anything else available except empanadas and some tartas, he proceeds to tell me some prices & he seems annoyed at me asking he then says “i have to go i have customers” as if im Not a customer. He said Empanadas are 2.60 each and for a dozen empanadas it would be $27. I ignore the phone conversation thinking maybe he’s having a rough day when i went i got 11 and he charged me $30 so when i asked about the dozen for $27 he said that if i got a dozen they would still be $30. I know its a family owned business and they make up the rules and the prices but Awful customer service. Awful communication. And if you don’t have food items available anymore take them off the menu. Will not come here again.

Authentic Argentinian food, owners are the sweetest people ever. Many South American products. You will not be disappointed.
Great place to get Argentinian products. The owners are lovely and super welcoming! We just moved to Texas and live in Waco and it was worth the drive down. We tried the empanadas and they were delicious! Will definitely be coming back in the future to try the rest of the menu! Thank you!
The owners are very friendly. It is a small mom and pop business with Argentinean products. We bought some cookies, crackers, alfajores de maizena and empanadas. The empanadas and alfajores are made by the owner and are so delicious.
A true Argentinian experience in the middle of the woodlands! I absolutely recommend this place, the food is amazing and the customer service is superb. All that I tried or purchased there is top quality - my fav being the prosciutto white crustless bread sandwiches, a true Argentinian delicacy, they’re addicting! The empanadas are out of this world too. And the largest variety of “Yerba mate” in town. Hands up Bodegón! Keep it up!
If you enjoy real Argentinian flair this is not your place. They don't have empanadas or any Argentinian cooked cuts. Their alfajores are average. The sandwiches are so-so. It's more like an Argentinian supermarket with the pretense of a restaurant . Last but not least the owner has an attitude when tending to requests.
It does not get more authentic than this. These are artisans that know the trade and have pride in their product. We live in San Antonio and the 400 miles round trip was ABSOLUTELY worth it. JUST DO IT! There will be no regrets. La mas autentica comida argentina que hemos tenido en los EE.UU.; ni cerca de ninguna otra.
