Have you ever had a hair salon visit totally change your life? 

I recently moved to Baltimore and I've been wanting to go gray for many years. Unfortunately I didn't know what salon was ideal for the process or where to go. Last year, I went to a few unnamed salons and was told they couldn't do it--or rather, wouldn't do it because it's a long, difficult process.

I had very long hair, and my hair was two-tone, ombre, with darker roots and light ends. It was as mess, with dead ends. I had gotten to the point where I kept my hair long because it's really all I had going on. I didn't enjoy styling my hair anymore, it felt more like a chore.

One salon said they would give me balayage blonde hair, and I decided since no other salon would help me go gray, I would go for this instead.

After a year, I decided I wanted to go gray and wanted to find a salon that would actually help me through this process. When I walked into BOLD for my consultation appointment,  I already knew this would be the perfect place.

Anne-Marie was my stylist and when I told her what I wanted to do, she was very upfront and honest with me about the cost and the time it would take. She was kind, professional, and realistic with everything, and assured me that she would do this process as safely as possible which was my main concern.

We set the appointment for a few weeks out, and when I arrived for my appointment, I realized they blocked the salon for me. Anne-Marie was so sweet, and explained every step to me carefully so I knew what was happening and why. I was there for the entire day, and when I left, I was SO happy.

Everything that I hoped would happen, happened with my hair. I went in knowing that my hair might not cooperate well with this process and walked out with exactly what I've been wanting for years, and I think the reason that is is because of Anne-Marie and her helpers and her attention to detail during the coloring process. She was very thorough and careful throughout every application, testing different dyes before we both selected the one we thought would be best. Anne-Marie expressed that she wanted my opinion first and foremost so I would be happy, and we both agreed on the same dye to achieve the results I would be happiest with.

I really do think I went to the best in Baltimore, and had I gone to any other salon I would be leaving with either green or blue hair. After my hair had been dyed and cut (she is also phenomenal at cutting hair, it was quick and came out beautiful), she explained to me how to care for my hair and what to expect in the coming weeks. It's been about a month since I got my hair colored and it's still the same, beautiful gray I had when I finished my appointment with Anne-Marie. 

Even though I spent an ENTIRE day at the salon, Anne-Marie and the other staff there made the entire process feel quick and painless. I wasn't exhausted at the end of the day, or even really eager to get out. Their salon is very welcoming and beautiful, and I am SO happy I chose this salon to go gray. 

I'll say again that I really think I went to the best in Baltimore! Thank you so much for giving me the hair I've wanted for years and making it such a painless process! I now LOVE my hair and I often get comments on how beautiful my hair is.

I've been looking for a good men's haircut in Baltimore for a while now.  Matt Borovsky cut my hair the other day at Bold, and he did a beautiful job.  He's a keeper.
