We visited a Bonchon location out of state years ago and have been dying to go back ever since. Though long overdue, we finally visited the West Hartford location last night, and our experience was just as good, if not better, than we remembered. The batter and sauces on the fried chicken are fantastic, and the chicken itself was so fresh. The salmon avocado ball was delicious, and I can be critical of pork buns, so I ordered them to see how they compared to some of my favorite places. Bonchon nailed them! Flavorful sauces were used, the pork belly was great, and most importantly, the bun was soft and not dry. We tried Bull Dak for the first time and loved it, and of course it’s always fun when it comes in a sizzling hot plate. The bibimbap was tasty as well, and I liked the Bulgogi as a protein choice. Our servers were friendly and attentive, and the location was very clean and modern. I highly recommend checking this Bonchon location out!

Really disappointed with the quality of Korean fried chicken here. I’m from the Boston area and I haven’t had bonchon in a while so I was craving some and decided to stop by to eat. The seasoned fries were good as always but as soon as our plate of chicken wings came out I was genuinely surprised. First of all, one thing I noticed immediately was the size. The wings looked massive compared to what I remembered. I went ahead and took a bite but the skin was so hard different from the texture you’d get from a good crunchy skin. Once I got through with the bite I saw that there was so much space in between the meat and the outer layer, hence the size see pic for detail. One of the wings outer shell was so hard it broke off when I bit into it. I’m not sure if bonchon just changed their recipe or something but all I could say was I was something was different. I won’t be coming to this location for sure. If you are used to the quality of Boston or new York Korean fried chicken, I’ll recommend you all to not order from here.

I’m a fried chicken addict and by far, this is the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Tried both the soy and the spicy but liked the spicy better although both were good. I’m giving it 4/5 just because the side of fries I ordered was prepared in an old oil. It was delicious but had an old oil smell.

Been here once and had a nice time, staff are very friendly! But I’ve ordered from here multiple times because the wings are so tasty! Incredibly crispy; the spicy wings are in fact spicy and the soy garlic flavor wings are so delicious! Also the SIZE of the drums are incredible!! Highly recommend for wing lovers out there!

Two different kinds of wings soy garlic, and toothpick side was the spicy. Tacos and fries. Food was amazing freshly made in a timely manner, service was friendly fast, and atmosphere was laid back.  Parking: Plaza parking lot under construction but once construction is complete. The parking lot will have more space.

I really love the food here! Everything from the ramen with chicken, to the wings, to the veggie potstickers to the japchae! Just delicious food, made fresh. If you get spicy wings or potstickers, just know it is SPICY!! My only complaint is that the waiters are very forgetful and inattentive at times which is pretty annoying, but as far as the food, it is worth a try for sure.

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT GOOD BONCHONS. This place is ridiculous whoever their cooks are ruin Korean fried chicken. I’ve seen so many people complain and nobody does anything! The strips are not the same as they used to be and all the sauces are extremely salty. Tastes nothing like how it would be in New York or Boston locations. Extremely disappointed in West Hartford and how they haven’t changed after many complaints. And don’t tell me to go to your website resources because I have already expressed my DISDAIN for this location. The pictures below are what the strips used to be at the Manchester location EXTREMELY GOOD. If you go here, West Hartford, the strips are no longer the same they are more like refrigerated chicken tenders you can buy at Walmart.

Great food, great environment. The staff are always so accommodating and friendly. Highly recommend the kimchi bacon fried rice and spicy miso ramen! Such a nice location too- definitely my #1 spot to grab a bite after a long day.

I will start by saying I am very disappointed to have to write this review but I feel I have to. Bon Chon West Hartford used to be one of my favorite restaurants to takeout from. It was one of the places I frequented most often throughout the pandemic. With that said, their quality of food, attention to detail and general service have taken a nose dive in the last year. The only menu item worth the money is the fried rice.  This was our first time trying them again in nearly a year since last time they did not refund us for a cancelled order even though they had assured us that they had. Tonight they completely messed up two of our items gave us hot chicken wings and regular fries when we ordered half and half soy garlic/plain chicken strips and seasoned fries and strongly recommended that I accept store credit as it would take 3-4 days to try and refund the money. They also did not offer to deliver the correct food after the mistake, instead asking me to drive back 25 minutes to get the correct food or accept a store credit that they very well could forget or lose track of by the next time I call. In total we have been out roughly $100 between the two orders.  As someone who is a cook and makes nearly all of the food at home for myself and my family, I am very selective with where I get takeout from. It truly is not a difficult task to double check an order you made against the order the customer put in…and errors like this are just pure carelessness.  In lieu of these events as well as the slipping food quality, absent minded staff and sheer disregard for quality control on orders before they go out the door, I will not be going back. Save yourself time and money and go to one of the better and equally priced restaurants around West Hartford.
