I was craving something sweet, juicy, maybe indulgent, maybe healthy, and this completely hit the spot. There was thankfully no one else there when I walked in, so the two lovely gentlemen behind the counter were able to walk me through the overwhelming array of options, allowing me to taste the BOOMchia pudding also…which I wasn’t totally sure about because…it’s blue. I went with a small mango & açaí base, dark chocolate granola, strawberries and blueberries, topped with mulberries, goji berries, and toasted coconut, plus peanut butter and apple honey. Friends, it was GLORIOUS. Delicious. Sweet, juicy, crispy, crunchy, slightly decadent, and perfectly filling. The BOOMchia pudding isn’t sweet on its own, but together with everything else, it’s balanced well with flavor, texture, and sweetness. Also, nice bright lighting with comfy seating near outlets. The seats are unusually comfortable for stools. They’re sort of soft/cushion-y for plastic, and they have a curve for your bottom, if that makes sense.
A great place for acai bowls and smoothies! I got the acai bowl with granola and fruit - it's unlimited toppings and there are a lot of choices! The price is pretty good and it hits the spot when I'm craving something sweet but want to avoid ice cream. Definitely coming back!Food: 5/5
I loved the flexibility I had when I ordered - toppings are unlimited and you can have whatever combinations your heart desires. The bowls are really aesthetically pleasing lol - very colorful. There is a bathroom and WiFi. It’s a bit pricy but what isn’t these days, and also it’s Montclair. We need more vegan places here please!Food: 5/5
We got the acai and boomchia pudding bowl and it was delicious! There were a variety of toppings and the fruits were very fresh. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I wish they would open a location in New York!Food: 5/5
Wow this place was an all around fantastic spot to visit. I went in having never heard of Boomchia before but having tried several other “bowl” spots and was blown away. For offering unlimited everything the prices were more than reasonable. It’s spacious and bright while best for to go or groups of 2-3 people max. Everything was clean and sleek and very appealing to the eye especially as its food related. The service was fantastic, I was greeted by both employees with smiles and a genuine interest to inform me of the options I had and recommendations. Now for the bowl, it was scrumptious! The flavors all came together amazing and tasted just right. I couldn’t have found a better experience today and can’t wait to share with everyone I know! Highly recommend and will return!!!
foodie_starry Acai Bowl! 3 sizes! 8 bases! Pitaya/Mango/Matcha/Blue Coconut 4 granolas! 4 fruits! Over 20 kinds of unlimited toppings!
My boyfriend and I frequent here a lot, and we absolutely love this place! The quality of the ingredients is very high, almost immaculate. The fruit is always perfectly ripe, the toppings are fresh, the granola is light and crunchy, and the boomchia pudding is so unique and delicious, I truthfully could just eat a bowl of that on its own. The blue coconut frozen base is my favorite, it tastes as good as it looks. If you haven’t tried this place yet, I HIGHLY recommend you do, you won’t regret it!
Very clean and aesthetically pleasing spot. The base was nice and frozen and didn’t become instantly watery. Plethora of toppings at no additional cost is a plus. I recommend the BOOMCHIA pudding, mango and blue coconut base. 5/5 highly recommend this spot!Food: 5/5
I used to go to Playa Bowl, but this will be my new go-to spot! Fresh and quality ingredients, highly customizable, and friendly service! I ordered online for pick-up in store. I liked how they kept in the fridge, so it's not melted when you pick it up. There is a flat rate based on the size you order, and you can add as many bases and toppings for no extra charge. Unlike Playa Bowl, it is not too sweet, and you can control sweetness by adding agave or honey. There are a few tables and seats if you want to eat in store. Will definitely return to try more flavor combos!
Western civilization has arguably gone downhill over the last few years, but the recent acai bowl trend gives me hope for humanity. Any time you encounter legitimately healthy food that tastes great and makes you feel amazing, run with it and you should be able to run for quite a while after eating this. I initially stopped by months ago with a chum as part of a free/discounted promotion. She wasn't as crazy about this I think mostly because it's not as sweet as the nearby Playa Bowls, but I've kept coming back, most recently this past Sunday morning, and it's never less than a perfect experience. I've ended up getting pretty much the same bowl every time. I wouldn't be opposed to venturing beyond that, but it's so good that it's hard to justify branching out - why mess with perfection? I go for the frozen combo base of acai and their seasonal flavor mango it's labeled seasonal but it's definitely been there for at least three seasons - not a complaint but I think it's safe to just keep this on the permanent menu now, the boomchia pudding, dark chocolate granola, strawberries, cacao nibs, almond butter and cacao powder. Yes, there's A LOT going on here and you legitimately could get a few more ingredients in there; unlimited toppings is part of the sales pitch. I always go large to fit as much as possible. Again, not a complaint, but compared to a Playa bowls, I don't find this as filling - I feel peppy afterwards mind you, but it's not unusual for me to be hungry again in about three or four hours. The service is always top-notch. I usually see the same people there month after month not much obvious turnover; good sign, who are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. A big part of the business model is the presentation value. I'm pretty ambivalent about that - I love a good pic but ultimately I'm there to eat the food, not look at it - but it IS pretty impressive to witness the time and attention that goes into each bowl. The person behind the counter very carefully condenses the frozen base to get as many ingredients as possible, usually at the same time as another person is cutting up the fruit to meticulously place on the top of the creation. Bottom line, they do the little things right here every time. As a bonus, this is a competitive price point especially if you are going to compare it directly with Playa. A bowl at Playa at this point runs around $13 I think. The large bowl at BOOMCHIA, which is literally twice the size of a Playa bowl, is around $15. The only negative I can think of is that they don't have any other locations, so I have to schlep over to Montclair and figure out where to park. But if that's the biggest complaint I can muster, that says it all. Absolutely deserving of its sky-high rating.
