Have some nice trials. You can see Riverside city on the west side with a nice view. Also, a nice view on the south side for Moreno Valley too. Watch out for snake and mountain lion. I met two hikers who had experience with mountain lion encounter over there.

The best views in the Riverside / Moreno Valley area. Hiking Biking and Equestrian trails are all great. But not well marked/mapped and watch out for ruts especially if it has rained recently. I have personally Seen Wild Burros almost every time i visit, other wildlife I have seen include Rabbits, snakes (beware of Rattlesnakes) Deer, and even a Bobcat and a Mountain Lion. For the best views without hiking park at the end of Box Springs Mountain Rd. Just exit the 60 at Pigeon Pas and go north, keep going straight, the road will become Box springs mountain road, then will turn into a steep dirt road, then you will eventually come to a gate with a dirt parking lot. It is $5 to park. The view to the southwest overlooking riverside is best from the road right before the parking area. This is also where top of the Two Trees trail is. For Mountain bikers I recommend going up the dirt road and then Down either the Two Trees trail or the M Trail both are fun fast and steep and not recommended for beginners. and please remember to yield to Equestrians and Hikers. Local Equestrian groups do most of the volunteer maintenance on these trails and without them we wouldn't have trails to ride. So please stop and let horse's pass, say hello, so the horse knows your a human and not some animal it should be afraid of.

Peaceful and quiet. Nice for hiking or running. Every time I go I see people going up and down the hill which is comforting to know if I hurt myself some one will be along shortly to help. Every one I've come across is friendly and helpful.

I've lived here for 40 years and have enjoyed trips into the hills for many of those years. Living with large cities surrounding you, this is a breath of fresh air. The views can be spectacular (on a clear day). There is wildlife in these hills that have survived the incursions of mankind. Take the time a hike around, it is a nice break from the California Rat Race.

This is a great hill to climb if you enjoy the outdoors. You can either take the trail as most people prefer to do or you can try to find your own way up. The hill gives you a great view of your surroundings allowing you to see 20 miles out if it is a clear day. Bring plenty of water and a snack because you'll be exhausted once you get to the top and there are no refill stations or anything.
