The Bradford Fire Department roots go back to around the 1820s. On July 16, 1855, Waitsville Fire District No. 1 was formed by a duly warned meeting of the voters of Bradford living within the district. This district consisted of the village area. On November 17. 1859 the selectmen chaged the boundaries of the district to about what the village boundaries are today.
The department is a member of the Upper Valley Regional Dispatch Center and Twin State Fire Mutual Aid.
