Fire/Emergency Response Operations
The BPVFD currently operates 3 Stations with a fourth station currently under construction on North Sandbrach Road. The department has a total fleet of 17 Emergency Vehicles. The department covers a district of approximatley 58.4 Square Miles of Raleigh County, West Virginia, The estimated population that the department serves as of the most recent census was 12,500. The department also runs mutual aid assistance to other surrounding departments, therefore expanding the area that it actually responds into.
The department not only runs calls for fire, it also runs for emergencies such as Motor Vehicle Crashes, Power Lines down, Gas Leaks, Rock Slides as well as to Assist Emergency Medical Services.
The department also takes a pro-active approach to the emergency. We conduct Fire Safety events annually by setting up Fire Prevention Booths at festivals and in our local shopping centers, we work with the schools in our response district and conduct fire safety lessons, demonstrations and fire drills at our elementary and secondary schools.
