Enjoyed a hot buttered lobster roll with a sangria. Staff was very kind and accommodating. The view was amazing and would love to return on a sunnier day. Was very quiet and a bright atmosphere with comfortable seating which I appreciate. The salads were delicious but the salmon could use a bit more of a stronger taste for my personal taste buds. But some of my family who prefer a fresher taste enjoyed it and I still really liked it. Really just depends on mood and preference. Their sweet potato fries were perfect and the pasta was great. I am looking forward to returning when it’s warmer out and also trying their oysters and more entrees.
Very good food. We sat at the bar and had great service. Drinks were great, menu had a lot of options including multiple vegetarian options. The gnocchi were amazing. @amp_eats instagram and FacebookFood: 5/5
Really enjoyed the seafood here. Got the daily special, which was a swordfish steak, fingerling potatoes, and asparagus. It was extremely good! For an appetizer, I got the clam chowder, which was also very good. Our table shared truffle fries, and everyone was happy with them. Service got a little slow towards the end, but it is what it is. This restaurant has a nice view of the water and the boat docks, so the ambiance is perfect for enjoying dinner.
We were very disappointed. It was a Wednesday night and it was not busy there. We were seated quickly but waited over 15 minutes before a waitress came to see us. We were just getting up to leave when out waitress came to get our drink ordered. She was pleasant. We ordered our food and it came out in a slow but reasonable time. We had no complaints about out food. It was hot and very good. My wife had fish tocos and I had the horseradish burger. This place sits on the water and you can eat outside and in making the atmosphere fantastic. Watching the boats come in and out is special. However, the bathrooms were not clean. There was urine on the seats and floor, paper towels on the floor and counters and the garbage was overflowing. I would have taken pictures but other patrons where in there and I think that might have been creepy. So in summary, the food and atmosphere was good but they really need to step up their service.
The ultimate seaside dining destination in a storybook New England town… Dining right on the water on their deck or inside in their charming vaulted ceiling dining room. This restaurant has been a landmark for decades… And now as breakwater it is continuing to serve the public with amazing seafood, land lover dishes, excellent service… And of course, spectacular atmosphere and ambience
The food was good in taste and presentation. And a good variety. Good service and friendly server. The atmosphere was great with indoor and outdoor seating. And a front row seat for an amazing sunset. Plenty of selections to try another time.Food: 5/5
Breakwater is perhaps our favorite restaurant we have been coming for years which typically takes us more then a hour to get there but well worth the trip. We have been talking about taking my best friend and her husband for years and yesterday on her birthday we finally all got together. Even the bad weather did not stop us from having a great time. I would be remiss if I didn't send a huge compliment to our fantastic server Brittany. She was amazing, and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The food was exceptional as always we ordered the seared sea scallops, lobster roll, fish tacos and a tempura vegetable offering. While dining inside the sky's cleared and it was beautiful as always. Many thanks to Brittney for making this such a special day.
Long wait time for drinks and food to arrive. After the long wait the food quality was very disappointing. Got the salmon burger and it was very fishy. My husbands burger was completely over cooked. Too hungry to send it back. Saw another table ask to take their food to go they waited so long. If you have children there are safety concerns with decking. Expensive drinks that have no alcohol in them. Poorly maintained grungy facility. No plans to return.
Sadly you are really paying for the views as the food is just ok. Vibe: We originally had reservations for inside, but as the day was beautiful opted for outside. I am so happy we didn't sit inside as there was only one other party in there. Being in an empty restaurant is not fun in my opinion. The views are great and it's in a super cute town. We parked in the lot next to the restaurant and had no issues. Service: Our server was super nice, funny and got the vibe of our table - a reunion of 3 siblings. There weren't any gaps in service and outside of the views, the best part of the experience. Food: I had one of the specials - Grilled Mahi on mashed potatoes, with sautéed greens and a lobster cream sauce. It was good comfort food - nothing horrible, but not amazing that I would run back for. The fish had a bit too much char on it, which didn't help. My sisters each got the Hot Buttered Lobster Roll, one with Sweet Potato Fries and other with Truffle Fries. They were packed with lobster, but as with my fish - just ok. The sweet potato fries are your standard frozen waffle-cut fries and nothing special. The truffle fries were a bit better. My brother-in-law got the Stuffed Lobster. He said is was ok, a bit dry though. The corn also had a bit too much char on it and the potatoes were nothing special to write home about. We were happy we only ordered on dessert - the Key Lime Pie. It lacked citrus flavor and the tang you come to expect from a great key lime pie. Thankfully, we saved enough room and went down the street for ice cream. Go for the views, maybe a cocktail and don't crazy with ordering food. After all, you can walk down the street for some ice cream. Date of visit: 9 July 2023
Great views, reasonably priced, fresh food not huge portions though. We started with a dozen delicious oysters. He got clam chowder in a bread bowl which he said was good, but a lot smaller than he expected, and a Caesar salad with added shrimp. I had sea scallops over asparagus lobster risotto. I recommend going here and will be back! I love how they decorated. It's a nice long bar, and then the dining area that has cute pillows and views all around because it's out on the pier. The server was very nice and attentive. We went midweek in May for lunch, so it isn't the busy tourist season yet, and that's helpful because we have a baby. They had a highchair and it wasn't an issue.
