Ordered the 5 rib platter with two sides and a drink for $16. It was great. Ribs had a lot of smoke flavor with the 'red' smoke ring and very tender. The beans are fantastic with mixture of sweet and sauce with bits of meat. I substituted a side for the 1/4 lb of sausage. They were great. Never needed the barbeque sauce. I will return and you must try Brister's also.

Passing through Ruston and googled BBQ and Bristers popped up first with a 5 star rating. Ribs were outstanding!!!! May have to come back and visit just to get to eat here. Delicious!!!!

So we got three BBQ places in town (that I've tried at least), and this is the best. Unfortunately, not always top notch as on at least two occasions the ribs were over cooked and essentially burnt. Between Bristers, Hot Rod, and Rib Shack, Bristers definitely has the best sides. By far. If only they had peach cobbler ;)

This sandwich went downhill ... somewhat surprisingly ... and sadly.

I've been a Scatterload fan since Mr. Dowling made them at the original location, so it was with my typical "this sandwich is unbelievable" outlook that I took my girlfriend for her first Scatterload this past Saturday.  Boy was I disappointed.  The service was strangely slow and when the sandwich did arrive, it was a sloppy, soggy mess.  I ordered our two Scatterloads on the jalapeno-cheddar bun with cheddar - but they arrived with what appeared to be pepper-jack on what may have at one time been a bun.  It looked like they took a spoonful of the Scatterload mix, pilled it on the bun, slapped on a piece of the wrong cheese, and nuked it in the microwave.  The consistency wasn't there - 1/4 of the sandwich was solely chopped beef separate from the remainder, no sauce, and it was a pile of molten goo - you couldn't differentiate the bun from the filling.  Why a microwave?  What happened to the steamers?  

I was disappointed and likely won't return.  Too much money to have ruined the great memories I have of Mr. Downlings (and Jeremy's) Scatterloads.

Brisket was inbetween cold/warm...  Ribs were perfectly smoked and had great flavor  no bbq sauce needed nor wanted  the meaty baked beans are the stand out side! 3.75/5
