I have been using Dr Shields for over 15 years! All the bad reviews from a year ago were when Dr Shields was very sick and in the hospital. He is one of the few vets that will listen with an open mind then research about the topic when new science is available. When they did emergency hours all night he would open the office no matter what time I called. I have personally watched people get vet care then say they were putting their pet in the car and drive off without paying so I understand why they needed to crack down on payments. That new up to date equipment does not pay for itself! The only times I waited for long periods of time were when an emergency came in and had to be seen before appointments! This is the ONLY vet that always gives a complete printout of everything they do along with copies of all test results! I have asked them numerous times to do testing that needs sent to specific labs for my show dogs and never had a problem, they gladly ordered in the special dyes or whatever supplies were needed and always followed up with the vets at the labs used...........and believe me, some of the tests were things most people never heard of.

The cost is very high.   I have not been there for a few years just for that reason.  When Dr. Shields was running it the care and service was wonderful.  It has gone downhill since then.  I am not privy to what is going on there just that I have a much better vet clinic that I go to now.

I took my senior dog here for an examination for some hip pain she was experiencing.  The staff offered me coffee while I waited for my appointment, were very kind to me and my dog, extremely professional, and were able to get her on an effective pain management regime.  They followed up by telephone a few days after my appointment and the in-person follow-up 2 weeks afterwards was included in the original examination fee.  I am extremely impressed with the quality of care for what was really a reasonable bill.  I definitely recommend this facility!
