Brown's Shoe Fit Company is a footwear chain that was founded in 1911 offering a wide selection of brand-name shoes for men, women, and kids.
How many Brown’s Shoe Fit stores are there?
There are 82 Brown’s Shoe Fit stores located in 12 Midwestern states.
Do you manufacture your own shoes?
No. Brown’s Shoe Fit is strictly a retailer. We don’t manufacture any footwear.
How come all Brown’s Shoe Fit stores don’t carry the exact same footwear?
Store location and geography play a significant role in a store’s product selection, but the biggest factor is the store manager. Brown’s store managers are responsible for purchasing the entire product mix in their store. Since no two managers are the exact same, the product is different in each store.
Can I return a pair of shoes in a different store than the one I bought them in?
The best way to handle this situation is to return the pair of shoes in the store in which you bought them. Each store is individually owned and managed. Returns are handled differently in each store because each manager sets the store’s return policy.
Are all shoes equally sized?
Do not rely on a specific size to fit the same from one shoe to another, or from one brand to another. Shoes will not fit the same. Athletic shoes generally run ½ size smaller than a leather walking shoe. Work boots usually run longer than walking shoes. Also, there are many sets of hands that touch a shoe during the manufacturing process, and this can lead to different fit characteristics. Our suggestion is: Don’t get size conscious, get the shoe that feels the best.
Should all shoes of the same brand fit the same?
It is not uncommon to wear different sizes in the same brand of shoe. Styles of shoes can vary in size.
How do I know if my shoes are the correct size?
You don’t want your shoes so tight that they cramp your feet. You also don’t want them so loose that your feet receive no support! There is a happy median. Brown’s not only checks the length and width of your feet, but we also pay attention to the depth of your foot. Stop by one of our stores, and they will measure your feet to make certain that you have properly fitting shoes.
Do feet change?
Yes! There are many reasons why feet may change in size. If your feet swell during the day, your shoes may tend to feel tighter as the day progresses. As you age, the tendons in your feet have a tendency to stretch, thus making your feet larger. Increased body weight can also make your feet stretch.
Do foot problems only occur because of ill fitting shoes?
It is true that many foot problems are caused by ill fitting, and non-supportive, shoes. However, it is not always the source of foot problems. Many foot problems are inherited. Plus, your feet can be damaged by going barefoot.
What is plantar fasciitis?
Plantar refers to the sole, while the fascia is a fibrous band of elastic tissue connected from the heel to all five joints behind the toes. The inflammation of this tissue is plantar fasciitis, which is also known as heel pain syndrome.
What is the difference between pronation and supination?
Pronation is the more common of the two. It is when the inside arch collapses and the heel turns outward. Supination is less common. It occurs when the outside of the foot collapses and the heel turns inward
Why trade shoes daily?
Your feet perspire daily, and you should let your shoes dry out after a day’s wear. This is important to foot health, as different shoes have different “pressure points.” Trading shoes every day helps make certain that your feet don’t become accustom to only one set of these “pressure points.” Your shoes will wear longer if you allow them to dry out between wearings! Also, by allowing your shoes to dry out, you don’t promote the growth of fungus in your shoes, or on your feet.
