Denny and Mike would like to welcome you to Bruno's. They are proud to continue a tradition that has been in place for 60 years...
In 1945, Tony Bruno opened a neighborhood bar along West Philadelphia Street. He added pizza, spaghetti and sandwhiches to the menu in 1949. During this time, the main clientele were sorority sisters from the then Indiana State Teachers College. Since then, the restaurant has become "the place where locals go" and "place visitors must try."
Betsy Kreidler has lived and worked in the Indiana area since 1980, when she was an IUP student, as well as a Bruno's employee. Although much has changed in Indiana since then, little has changed at Bruno's. Our traditional Italian cusine is prepared by hand, using the same quality ingrediants and time-honored recipes that our customers anticipate each time they visit
Denny Della-Penna, an Indiana County native with 23 years of restaraunt experience, became involved with Bruno's in 2003. Being from a family of Italian cooks, he brought with him an appreciation for homemade tomato sauce, which is the hallmark of our "Old World Specialties." Although he would hesitate to say this at home, Denny thinks that Bruno's sauce is "better than Grandma's."
At Bruno's, Our "Old World Specialties" are still made daily on the premises, as are all of our bread and pizza shells. Our staff still takes personal responsibility and pride in every dinner they prepare and serve. This personal attention has been an important part of the good reputation of Bruno's, and will continue in the years to come.
Betsy and Denny are thankful for the opportunity to ensure that the tradition continues.
