About

The Mayor & Council meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. Visit www.brunswickmd.gov for more information.

Story

Brunswick began as a stop on the C&O Canal. Soon, the great steam locomotives of the B&O Railroad replaced the tranquil transit of canal boats, and a boomtown was born. Today, Brunswick serves as a hub of the MARC rail system, carrying passengers into DC's Union Station. Brunswick's unique location makes it the perfect place for outdoor recreation, and a wonderful place to call home.

Mission

We pride ourselves on providing a great quality-of-life for our residents for the least taxpayer investment possible. Our doors are always open, and no question is too insignificant nor is any problem too insurmountable.

Products

Known for fielding some of the regions best baseball players, youth athletics in Brunswick now encompasses all sports. The Brunswick Family Campground offers a peaceful outdoor experience along the Potomac River, with direct River access for boating and fishing. The Brunswick Railroad Museum on West Potomac Street is a wonderland of area and railroad history. The model train layout is one of the region's best. The Brunswick City Pool, located next to the High School on Cummings Drive, is open 7 days a week in the summertime.

If you want to know where to find inept elected officials, then here's your place... I'm posting on Google so it remains for anyone considering moving to Brunswick We bought our house about 11 mths after Tome was elected Mayor. We saw her election as a turning point for Brunswick. Crawling out of the 50s where it was left to die. Brunswick had started to make the turn from death to life, then came 2016 election when Snoots was elected and it didn't take long after Snoots' and now Brown's election to see that both and current council members have no desire for Brunswick to be anything but what it is right now, nothing. While I supported Tome in her 2016 election, I was beyond furious when I read the article she wrote in The Citizen about Brunswick needing to be made an FRA QuietZone which she said a citizen brought to her attention early during her tenure as Mayor but she didn't give any thought to it, which she said she regretted. Much like her, we didn't know about the train horn blowing at all hours in the night either when we moved to Brunswick, but unlike her, the words we uttered the first night in our house fell more along the lines of what the . Our kids were 4 and 6 when we moved to Brunswick, and trying to wake them up in the mornings became an everyday chore because they didn't sleep at night. Our neighbors claimed we'd get used to it, but we did not. Within a couple months we started staying at my in-laws Fri and Sat nights because we realized we were suffering from sheer exhaustion from not being able to get a restful night’s sleep. As years passed, we never went home on Fri's and didn't return until Mon evening - just so we could have 3/4 restful nights sleep from the nights where we were wakened hour after hour after hour by the train horn blaring. The fact that she was writing the article in The Citizen we took as a sign that Snoots had no interest in changing the trains horns blowing thru Brunswick at all hours of the day and many, many, many times at night. We decided we'd had enough. We sold our house, much like many of our neighbors/friends who moved to Brunswick during the time Tome was elected, and decided we were going to sell regardless of the financial loss and we took a huge financial loss. But we didn't care, we wanted out. All we cared about was being able to live and sleep in our new house. We were in Brunswick over the weekend and noticed the sign about the upcoming Town meeting for RailRoad Square, and all I could do was think about how dreadful it will be for the family's living there and the sleep deprivation they'll suffer being blasted by the train horn night after night after night without the ability to just sell and move.
