This is a busy place and even getting there before they open doesn't ensure that you will be seen quickly. I got there 10 minutes early and there were already 18 people in line. However, the people working there were very friendly and professional. The security officer even cracked a few jokes and helped everyone feel comfortable.

I had two forms each from my wife and I to file for Medicare.  There was no return address on the forms, so I went to deliver them at the local office in Bryan.  There were two security guards at the door, but as I surveyed the room, there was no one servicing the 75- to 100 people seated in the lobby.  Nor was there any apparent place to drop off forms.  I asked the security guards if there were any people servicing this large crowd.  He informed that there was a machine and I could enter my contact information.  I don't have any way to know, but it looked like I might have a two hour wait to drop off the forms.  I drove one block to the US Postal service office, secured a priority envelope and mailed it to the Social Security office one block away.  A startlingly inefficient way to service the public.

Typical government office. Incompetent staff who don't know how to do their jobs. It's clear they aren't interested in helping people and just don't care. You can wait for hours to speak to someone then they just want to get you out of their cubicle in a minute or two without really listening to your questions or concerns and just scoot you out without resolving your issues. These government offices are really good at just referring to another government office then that office will refer to another one & no one ever accomplishes anything. The goal is to wear you out so you feel defeated & just give up. I guess we have to just take care of ourselves & not depend on the government for any assistance even when we have paid into the system our whole lives & finally need some assistance. Disappointing.

Couldn't even get there because even though all of the employees were there we couldn't park in one of the 6+ available parking spaces in the "employee parking" there were no other spaces so we were forced to leave. The fact that they have over half of the lot reserved in a small parking lot for an office where lots of people need to get in is ridiculous.

Automated system is terrible and acutally hung up on me. They obviously don't want to help you or let you talk to anyone who can help.
