Story

Buchanan Home Center is your full service hardware store in the your own backyard. Formerly Cole's Hardware, established in 1981 the Buchanan Home Center is a staple in the business line up of Buchanan, NY. In a small town like this, you won't find the giant box stores. We pride ourselves with offering quality and great customer service to you, our loyal customer at affordable prices. Our employees live in your neighborhood who offer great customer service. Buchanan Home Center has everything you need for your DYI projects around your house: tools, paint, lumber, electrical equipment, plumbing supplies, and garden products. We do offer special pricing and value to our commercial customers. Please inquire in the store how you can apply for contractor pricing and specials.

Soon after the doors of the Buchanan Home Center opened, the store become a full service hardware store, closing the attached gas station and expanding the business to its current operation. Founding partners Joe Fichter and Jill Breslin had a vision to establish a store where values such as customer service, helpfulness and caring are always #1. The hardware store started with a half a dozen employees in a few departments and their success was based on their belief in personalized service, selection and first-hand experience, acquiring the Benjamin Moore paint line made the transition complete.

After coming on board in 2000 and becoming the general manager in 2014, Julian Breslin together with his mother, Jill continue the vision of a quality hardware store. Together they sought to create a quality hardware store with a reputation for excellent service and selection. The Buchanan Home Center continues to grow with currently around an average of 20 people in our different departments ranging from lawn & garden to housewares to lumber – just to name a few. The store is 4,000+ square feet of sales floor selling over 80,000 items. With all of the growth, Buchanan Home Center continues to strive to providing personalized service, selection, and first-hand experience to its customers.
