The job I was on went longer then expected, and I needed a trencher for about a month. My thought was, no problem, surely there is a monthly rate. I got gouged over $2700.00 for the month. I could have purchased a used one in better condition then the pile of crap I had the misfortune to use. I called and asked for the monthly discount and was told 'too bad'. What a cheater. I will never do business with this thief again. Beware!

Excellent customer service. I called them when I knew I was going to be late and they helped me out as I had an hour drive to get there.

I rented a mini-excavator in August, so you can see I thought about this review for some time before writing. I used the excavator for about 2 hours on my site and when I was tramming over smooth flat ground, the off operator side track came off- none of the common reasons for that were in play. Unfortunately the track coming off threw the machine to the edge of a steep bank, and it didn't have enough power to pull itself out like it should have. In order to prevent the excavator from rolling over the bank, I rented their JD 450 dozer which worked well for the first several hours, but then had power/fuel issues and couldn't move the mini-excavator once I had moved the bank to get in the right position to pull the excavator. I used it as a deadman with ratchet come alongs and finally got the excavator out. The excavator walked out of the track several times as I roaded it out, again, no common causes of throwing the track, rough surface turn, etc. To make matters worse, the dozer barely ran to get back to the loading area I used and this was going downhill. I paid nearly $3000 to use the excavator and dozer and extracting both for a total of 3 hours work on my still uncompleted project. I expected a break on the rental due to the series of mechanical issues, but paid full price, including the extra time everything took due to equipment failure. If I would have let the excavator roll off the hill, the damage waiver on the rental would have saved me a waste of thousands of dollars and headaches. I don't say this out of anger, but more to help others to avoid the pain I endured doing business with Buena Vista Rental, I do not recommend renting equipment from them. What I used was badly worn and not fit for purpose,. When the equipment failed to perform, the shop assumed no responsibility. I would have been a significant return customer, but I will haul equipment 300 miles before I do business here.
