Larry and Dorothy are the parents of 10 children, and grandparents of 16, great grandparents of 1, so far.
We have been married for 49 years.
When Dorothy was a child her daddy bought a little country store in New Hampshire. She was 8 years old at the time. He taught her to pump gas, run a cash register, stock shelves, wait on customers and more. When Larry and Dorothy got married, they wanted a country store. But that never happened. Until 2009!
Larry had 2 strokes in 2005 and became disabled. After much prayer and consideration, Grace, the ninth of ten, and Dorothy decided to open a small health food store in what used to be Larry's workshop.
Dorothy had run co ops and been involved in health food for many years, teaching classes etc.
For 20 plus years she had wanted to own and run a health food store but set up like a country store.
Grace and Dorothy ran the store alone until last year 2012, when someone else came on board. A husband for Grace named Daniel. So in addition to Dorothy and Grac,e you will see Daniel working, always waiting to help, carrying groceries to customers' cars, and whatever else he is able to do. Larry is still the greeter. You may see him at the roadside in his wheelchair waiting for the mailman, or maybe down the road in his golf cart waving to folks as they pass by. Or he might be sitting in the store eager to talk to husbands as they wait for their wives to finish shopping.
We welcome anyone who wants to sit and chat with us.
You will find us just over the LaRue/Hardin County line off 210 on Walter Reed Rd.

Directions from Etown: go south on 31W, pass the Hardin County Courthouse, go under I-65, take a left onto 210. Pass the old Carter Lumber store, about 1 mile on left you will see our sign, Bulk Foods and More
Directions from Hodgenville: go north on 210 towards Etown, pass water tower at industrial park first road is Carter Brothers, second road is Walter Reed Rd on the right.
