I just purchased a home as a first time buyer. Arlene Colon was my agent, but she was also the agent selling the property. She did not tell me she was representing both sides until I read it on the purchase contract. This was the only home I looked at with her. She told me she has been selling homes for 20+ years and it also states this on her website. I can’t find a single review of her online. Realtors live for reviews and normally give you incentives for writing them. She did not ask for a review. When she read my first review, she has texted, emailed and called me multiple times asking me to take it down saying she has never asked a buyer to write a review. I got in contact with the people selling the property and found out Arlene was telling different stories to both of us that did not match up. She was NOT passing on information that I asked to be passed on to the buyer. She did not pass on information the seller asked her to tell me. She also tried to make me breach my contract deadlines by not getting me the required documents before the deadlines. There are very strict deadlines to meet when buying a place. She would not send the contingency release form the day it was due. She wanted to send it the day after it was due, saying that would be fine, but in the same breath saying the buyer wanted to back out (which if I turned it in late, he would have legal right to back out). After many phone calls she said I would get it at 11PM, deadline was midnight. As a teacher I do not stay up this late. After many more phone calls I was able to get it closer to 9. They were then wrong, where she appeared to be trying to trick me into releasing all contingencies, not just the required ones. She would often call with 30 minutes left and say a decision had to be made right then (first time I would find out about this decision) and give me no time to research prices. She would not get me documents in writing or let me negotiate things she said were negotiable with the seller. She would get mad if I questioned anything. She wanted me to take whatever she said as a great deal and that I should be lucky. She also got mad when I would go with my own companies instead of the ones she suggested. She was then rude to the inspector because it was not her guy. She questioned every little thing he wanted to put down in his inspections, saying there was nothing wrong with that. She still has not given me information that she said she would and is expected to be passed on to a new buyer. She almost got us all tickets on street sweeping day too. She was the only one who caused headaches through the whole process. The seller was great and continued to follow through with repairs even when she told the seller to stop working on them and she told me he was unwilling to do them. Her website says that she is different because she provides the personal touches. If this is what you are looking for then look somewhere else. She did not have the sold signs to take pictures with, which every realtor usually does, especially with a first time buyer. She gave no welcome home gift that is a very common practice in this industry.
