Cannot attest to the level of corruption of the judges or how fair the court is, but the outside grounds were going under improvements which is a nice sign for the town. The memorial to the Confederate soldiers lost in the war stands as a sentinel on the grounds adorned with a wreath, and has no plans to be moved elsewhere. The courthouse itself looks pretty good for its age, since the first one was raided by the Union army in 1865 and remodelled in 1901. The August terms of the NC state Supreme Court were held here from 1847-1861 as the sign says. Worth a visit if in Morganton, especially post-improvements. Cheers.
The worst experience court house experienced ever, assistance and service on low poor level .
If I could give this court house negative stars, I would. The worst experience I’ve ever had and it looks like I’m not the only one. The clerks where AWFUL. Very rude, mean, sour to everyone. Politely asked her a question and received a judgemental response of “what, you can’t pay that? Are you serious?”. And was rolling her eyes the whole time. When I asked her if I needed to do anything, the only response I got was a loud and obnoxious “BYE!”. I’ve dealt with many rude people but I’ve never dealt with anyone like this. I left so mad at my experience and normally I don’t leave reviews but I couldn’t stay quite. And to top it off, one of the other ladies was clipping her toe nails at the desk behind her. Clerks think they’re better than anyone and EXTREMELY unprofessional. Very awful people.
Always a quick trip in and out. Even when I have to take my shoes off. Nice people since forever
I have never dealt with anyone in my life that was so afraid they might actually have to DO something in order to help. The woman I spoke to was more interested in chastising me over my losing the documents I was requesting than she was in actually telling me what I needed to do to replace them. Furthermore, when I asked if she could mail the documents bc I live in Winston-Salem, she was appalled at my request & was surprised I didn't want to drive 100miles one way, to pick up the papers! So she told me that I would have to send a self-addressed, stamped envelope to have them mail them to me. I am happy to do this however, given her attitude and apparent distaste for her job, I won't hold my breath while I wait for someone to actually reply to my written request. Honestly? I imagine the letter I send will end up in the trash. What a sad example of an employee. I look forward to this ridiculous effort to be over.
Noboby likes going to the courthouse
Very attractive older courthouse on the downtown square.
Don't take your cell phone in. Plenty of free public parking in a lot next to the court house
The clerk at the DA counter and the assistant DA were both inconsiderate And non-professional employees. I was treated very rudely and talked down to in a very condescending manner. This was the worst experience I've ever encountered with the court system.
I got pulled over for speeding and wanted information about driver's safety classes and how that process would work. The woman who answered the phone was very helpful with all my questions.
