At Cafe del Sol we believe that using quality ingredients, in traditional Mexican dishes, is the key to happy customers. After years of success at our sister restaurant La Tiendita, also in San Clemente, we knew exactly what we wanted out of our new venture. A modern spin on the tried and true traditional Mexican dishes that we all love. Whether you are on your way to or from the world famous Trestles surf spot, a local that lives next door, or just passing by, Cafe del Sol has just what you are looking for. I'm a long time customer and have enjoyed their high quality and authentic dishes that never leave me hungry or dissastified. Their coffee selection is outstanding and they have overall quick service. Parking can be a challenge but parking on the street or the nearby lot is an easy alternative. Also, the drive through can be tough for vehicles with a longer wheelbase, narrow turn radius or trailers. However, there is nearby parking.

The food is great but the service is sub par and the wait, even for a cup of coffee, is extreme. Last weekend the cashier could not get the order correct. We verified it with him twice. When it came up he gave us only one of what we ordered and the second Bonzai Bowl was of another type. Not too hard to get the order correct when it's two of the same thing right? Owner said he would make me what I had originally ordered for a $2 difference. I had already waited about 15 minutes for a blender drink. I said no thanks just give me my money back. He was not pleased. My advice to Cafe del Sol...get employees who understand and know how to take orders. This not the first time I've had to explain a simple order to the cashier there.

Great food tasty and clean. They have a very etiquette way of making food of wiping off the cabinets and washing their hands before and during cooking. They are like family to me and my daughter. The employees are patient with people of disabilities and allergies.This splendid place for sure deserves five star for superb and exceptional peformance.

Food was terrible. Made us both violently sick in the middle of the night. Service was not friendly either.
