We ended up here when the restaurant we had planned to go to closed for bad weather. I didn’t even know this place existed but it was such a lucky find! Our waitress Christa is just what I want in a server: attentive without being intrusive, helpful in making menu suggestions and honest about menu items that aren’t the best. Everything she suggested was fantastic! We did the tuna tostada and the fried avocado appetizers. My prime rib sandwich was heavenly and the balsamic onions are what made it. Bonus: it heated up beautifully the following day. I’m looking forward to coming back because the menu was full of other items I want to try.
5Aug.2022 First and last time going here. My cubed chicken in my Nachos Del Solthey were out of the chili for these nachoswere dry and my neighbor and her friend who order the crab mac & cheese was disappointed our waiter didn’t know how the dish was prepared w/ lump crab or crab cake and my neighbor and her friend were disappointed when their plates were served and it was w/a crab cake on top of elbow pasta. On top of that our waiter tossed the straws for our drinks on the table by each person at the table. As lunch was ending for us, our waiter screwed up our checks and we told our waiter who was on what check before our lunch was ordered. This spot is fortunate for the generous 2 stars.
I had the basil chicken chili and the Greek pizza. It was so so good. The pizza is 10/10 the best pizza I have ever had the the chili definitely hit the spot. The Greek pizza is a white pizza with pesto, gyro, a Greek salad mix and Tzatziki on top.
I'm embarrassed to write two poor reviews in a day, but the experience unfortunately was so sub-par it begs sharing. After spending over 60 dollars on 2 pizzas and a salad, we at least hoped the food would be good. I'll keep this short - it wasn't. The pizzas looked like they'd been made hours before. Neither had more than a dollars' worth of toppings. If you like bread that you pay over 20 bucks for...well maybe this is your place. The salad was edible, but the lettuce was going bad and if you've ever had a Margherita pizza before...don't expect to actually receive that when you order it.
The worst food in the Hagerstown area. Service was abysmal as well. When we arrived, we requested to eat our appetizers in the restaurant while we waited for our entrees to be prepared. This request seemed to cause the host to become very confused. We were only given one set of silverware and a one menu for a party of two one toddler. We had another adult join us after we were seated and no additional menu or silverware was brought out so we had to get ourselves. As for a he cuisine, the crab nachos were not worthy of a photo given it was chips smothered in dressing and red onion with a ripped up crab cake 99% filler thrown about. We actually had trouble determining if they in fact had crab at all. The food was hit or miss -either over cooked or undercooked fries we had two orders. Our plates and menus sat on the table for the duration of our visit allowing little room for our entrée’s. The crab cake salad, as seen in the photos, had the same disappointing crab cake that was served with the nachos. Upon getting our check, we noticed several meals did not match the menu prices by several dollars. The staff informed us the prices should only have about a 50 cent increase compared to the printed amount. Even more frustrating was that this information was not shared until after they charged our cards. When we presented the discrepancy, the waitress offered to cover the funds herself to resolve the discrepancy. We declined her offer and would never take money from a staff member for issues the restaurant is responsible for. Had we had more time during our visit, we would have asked to speak with management this was not offered by our waitress. This is definitely becoming one of my favorite restaurants. Tried a new dish and it was fantastic and flavorful. Will definitely select more things I haven’t eaten yet.
Great service. Some fish is a little bit too salty, some is way too bland. But overall is good.
We tried Cafe Del Sol today and it was awesome. Our waiter Andy was great. Very friendly and accommodating. My gf tried the Fuji Apple salad w/bluberry pomegranate vinaigrette dressing and i tried the Adobo BBQ Chicken salad w/ranch dressing. We also had spiced sea salt fries. Both salads were delicious. Very flavorful. The fries weren't very hot but still had a great taste. Cafe Del Sol is a mix of Mediterranean, Mexican, American and Italian dishes. The menu has something for everyone.
Here is my experience. I got the gyro and fries. My wife got the chicken quesadilla and my kids got the cheese steak to split. Wait time was good. Fries were good. Gyro was ok, but was like warm and not hot. Here is the kicker. we ordered from the menu and then when we went to pay, everything was a dollar more expensive. my gyro was $15 instead of the menu price of $14, same for the cheese steak and the quesadilla was 13 instead of 12. This ruined it for me in addition to the luke warm food. I asked why the price was higher and was told their menu didn't reflect current prices. the cost was only 3 dollars more, but to me, that is an unacceptable practice. Man up and update the menu or put a sign out.
My daughter suggested Cafe Del Sol when i showed up and she was able to break away for lunch. Our server was Jacob - he took good care of us. I had the market wrap with sweet potato fries. Good choice! My daughter enjoyed her lunch as well. I plan to return to try some of their other offerings. There was a lot on the menu. Decor good; environment was conducive to quiet conversation.
