So glad this location opened up! Hands down best Banh mi in San Diego. Homemade bread, high quality ingredients. The cookies are also absolutely phenomenal! Chocolate coconut. The bbq pork bahn mi is my go to. Great atmosphere, clean restaurant, perfect musicFood: 5/5
Great spot for Vietnamese Banh Mi! Inside decor is modern without being too trendy. There are plenty of tables for dine in. The menu offers a large variety of different Banh Mi options that should please everyone. I’m a traditionalist so I stick with the Dac Biet and I’m always full and happy. The size of the sandwiches are large without being giant. They also other entree items as well as boba drinks and teas. I’ve tried the bbq spring rolls and these things were huge with a ton of meat. You get two rolls along with some peanut dipping sauce; they were delicious! Overall good spot for lunch or breakfast with reasonable prices for delicious food.
Second time ordering here and both times have been solid. Good tasting food with unique combinations. I got the Blended Thai Tea with popping passion fruit boba, Spicy Crispy Chicken breast wok fried rice, and the Lemongrass ribeye beef wok fried rice. I would safely recommend any of these items.
The name is Cali BÁNH MÌ = Vietnamese sandwich. I specifically asked for Vietnamese Bánh Mì, which should have the crunchy baguette. They gave me the softest, mushiest bread, which ruined the whole experience that I was looking forward to, even though the filling may be good, I couldn't tell since I was trying to reconcile the wrong combination of bread and filling. Amazingly how much of a disappointment that was. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry to dash out of there so I didn't discover the mushy bread until later. The vibe is very non- Asian, which didn't feel right to me. The menu may be innovative, but replacing the bread completely takes away the authenticity of the beloved food. If you are looking for an authentic experience, this is not it.
I am happy to have this close by, they add some good heat with fresh jalapenos, I get the tofu sandwich, their bread is very soft, some places use crunchy bread instead. $7 for a footlong sandwich is a good deal, also good thai tea.
As someone who eats a lot of bahnmi i was shocked to find this place not be up to par. The bread wasn’t even cooked it was super soft like they didn’t want to turn the oven on. The chicken was dry and the sandwich lacked flavor. The location is super clean and beautiful and staff guy was nice but i look for more out of my sandwich. You don’t get a second chance at a first impression.
The Vietnamese coffee is the best/my favorite!Food: 5/5
I was lucky enough to be their first customer after opening & had such a great experience. The Thai iced tea and banh mi were super tasty! I especially love that they make their bread homemade. On top of that, it's a family owned business and has such a great vibe. Highly recommend you check it out for yourself.
I really hate to do this, but food poisoning is no joke. My girlfriend and I really enjoy this place but I feel like changes need to be made. On numerous occasions we have received peanut sauce with out order that tasted off. Additionally, the cilantro lime sauce containers are often pressurized from what I would assume is bacterial growth. Today 12/26/22 was the final straw. My cilantro sauce container was pressurized and bubbling and my peanut sauce had a dime sized mound of mold in it. Absolutely disgusting and disappointing. I don't think these sauces are being stored at the proper temperature. OWNER: PLEASE REVIEW YOUR FOOD HANDLING POLICY WITH YOUR TEAM. I want to come back, but I don't mess with mishandled food.
Super fresh and yummy sandwiches I got a tofu bahn mi and my wife got the breakfast bahn mi. Made to order spring rolls - not prepped in the morning or the night before like most places. Really good milk teas with alternative milk options for vegan/veggie people. I got the iced matcha with almond milk and it was delicious! Interior is very well put together with a big open space that is clean and well designed. Service was on point as well - friendly and attentive. No complaints. We will definitely be back!
